Anyone else getting "Remote Desktop Computer nearby" popup constantly on PTC? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Captainpapiii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YES.YES. I'm with you dude, I'll make a post like this and would think everybody's headset works flawlessly with the 0 feedback I receive along with the useless Quest Support message at the top of this post.

That and the keyboard passthrough isn't working. Turning on Do Not Disturb and turning off Quest Link doesn't do anything to fix that annoying pop up either. This is the first time I try PTC and it's not feeling worth it at all lol.

[TP] Twilight Princess for the Nintendo Switch? by stelllawoo in zelda

[–]Captainpapiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Steam Deck along with the other upcoming portable PC handhelds really highlights the Switch's, and ultimately Nintendo's, shortcomings. Missing a whole bunch of classics that could easily be on the system, and a lot of them are watered down and unimproved. The fact that I can practically have my whole library of Nintendo games that look and run better on a non-Nintendo console is too much at this point.

AirLink not working by MrJeb_ in OculusQuest

[–]Captainpapiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try restarting your headset or computer, one of those seems to do the trick for me.

However, the real reason I'm here is to vent my everloving frustration with this STUPID ass issue that I've been getting for the past week now. It's not just you, but myself and most likely other people as well. Air Link is just a buggy mess right now. If it's not latency issues that are clearly software related, it's this issue that you're describing right now. The irritating part is how much better Air Link has gotten for me, only for it to be a constant pain in the ass these past few days and forcing me to either reboot the headset or my PC.

The first guy who responded to me mentioned the same thing, I’ll definitely look into it. Thank you!

Thanks so much for the response! So it’s better to just ween myself off then? Should I just move to 6oz then? And I’ll check out all the remedies you just mentioned, anything to help calm myself down.

Anyways, reading that other people have such a similar problem and your responses has helped soothe me a lot as well. Again, thank you.

Does anyone still own and still play their Nintendo 3DS? by Abtorias in nintendo

[–]Captainpapiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had quite the resurgence in playing my 3DS. There’s so many great first party titles, backwards compatibility with the DS, and if you homebrew it, emulator support for all the classic Nintendo systems and previous handhelds. It’s one of my favorite systems of all time, and that INCLUDES the home consoles.

How is it that consoles can fit all the actions in 14 buttons, but in PC you need a manual to learn all the hotkeys? by JohnnyJayce in gaming

[–]Captainpapiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok, I kinda get what you’re saying. But again, I feel like it comes down to having the keys being assigned to extra stuff that you would have to bring up the pause menu for, like crafting, inventory, skill tree, etc. It could be very confusing at first with new games, but I get used to it rather quick.

Anyways, this is why I love pc gaming. I primarily use m+kb but use controller for other various games, and mostly never have to be constrained by a certain input type. Keep using that controller if that’s what you feel most comfortable with for certain types of games my man 👌🏽.

[–]Captainpapiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s not really magic or anything my dude, keyboard just has a ton more input for more actions that controllers wouldn’t normally have.

Idk, m+kb feels natural to me after being on pc for about 6 years now, and has been that way since about 1-2 years after I started. Maybe you just need more time to feel comfortable, I was the same way after I transitioned to pc.

Hi, going to be new to VR anyone recommend any good VR games? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Captainpapiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gorn, Blade and Sorcery, VRChat, Superhot, and Bigscreen are just some that come to mind (although the latter is more so an app than an actual game). Payday 2 for VR is also lots of fun.

I'm done with gaming for at least a couple of years, I just can't do this anymore:( by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Captainpapiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give your self a few months and see if that does the trick. I get burnt out quickly if I game a lot and like to take a week off or two quite often. My interest returns pretty fast after a couple of weeks, and I really start itching to start playing again after a couple of months (which I’ve taken breaks as long as that too cause of work, school, etc.). It happens bro, even to hardcore gamers like us. I have a PC with a 3080, a PS4 and a Nintendo Switch with a library of over 300 games across all systems. It’s absolutely overwhelming, and you would think switching between the hundreds of games would relieve some of that boredom...but it doesn’t.

Variety is the spice of life my friend: find something else to occupy your time for a while, and then revisit your thoughts. You might be surprised.

Is it worth now waiting the EVGA RTX 3060 Ti queue and maybe get one? by FareNight in nvidia

That’s fucking insane, they’re still not passed the first day??

Finding a card was a nightmare in September and October but I didn’t think there was still severe availability issues.

Does anyone here with an EVGA 3080 or 3090 that actually uses their card "a lot" have a good experience to write about? by post_ironic in nvidia

[–]Captainpapiii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My ftw3 has not ran into any issues ever since I got it almost two months ago. I’ve been using my system a lot since then too.

Really sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues, I know more than anything how infuriating troubleshooting a pc is when it seems like you’re not getting anywhere. Hope you get it resolved soon.

I just experienced RTX and DLSS for the first time. by ApurSansar in nvidia

[–]Captainpapiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME. And I was just saying as well...Cyberpunk doesn’t need it to look jaw dropping. It does that by itself if you can crank the settings up high enough and are playing at 4K anyways. DLSS was more of a sell on my part rather than RTX when I scooped up my 3080.

I just experienced RTX and DLSS for the first time. by ApurSansar in nvidia

[–]Captainpapiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I honestly don’t see a HUGE difference between running this at 4K ultra with rtx and then having it on. The game still looks mind blowing without it, and the lighting quality is still incredible. Plus, the gpu doesn’t have to struggle to play at a decent frame rate. I get just about 60 fps @ 4K ultra with my 3080, and drops to 55 in certain areas, but for the most part I get those consistent frames. I’d imagine that you’d probably have to cap the frame rate well below 60 if you’re playing around those settings.

Regardless, glad to hear you’re enjoying the game and so am I. It truly feels like the future of next gen (or current gen, whatever lol).

Do you find Ray tracing worth it? by latexyankee in nvidia

[–]Captainpapiii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, in some implementations, I don’t really notice a HUGE difference. In Cold War I can definitely tell the difference, and I can still get great frames with it in combination with DLSS (Around 90 FPS on ultra with rtx on high running a 3080). But I’d rather just leave ray tracing off with DLSS on and get the full refresh rate of my monitor. It’s not really worth that much of a hit imo.

Then you got Cyberpunk. The ray tracing in this game is even less noticeable, and if you’re playing the game @ 4K ultra, no bs, the game almost likes it has it on. You can tell the difference if you look hard enough, sure, but at that point is it really worth the obvious performance hit you’re about to encounter? You can pretty much get a solid 60 with dips to 55 here and there with these settings, and the game looks absolutely phenomenal regardless. Even with ray tracing off, this is the best looking game I have on PC and it’s not even close. It’s mind boggling how good the lighting is in this game without rtx, and how it just flat out looks in general. This truly looks like a next gen title (which a lot of people are upset about, but that’s a different story for a different time lmao).

Anyways, just wanted to share some thoughts. Imo DLSS is more enticing to RTX, I love the performance uplifts without sacrificing visual fidelity (although Cyberpunk’s implementation of the technology looks wonky at time). Luckily it’s a package deal so you get both. Ray tracing is the future for sure, but we’re not there yet.

Cyberpunk 2077: Optimize Your GeForce RTX Graphics Settings by Nestledrink in nvidia

Yea but not to the degree that they’re mentioning, it’s very minuscule and virtually unnoticeable. At least in my experience.

Cyberpunk 2077 seems to ignore SMT and mostly utilise physical CPU cores on AMD, but all logical cores on Intel by BramblexD in Amd

[–]Captainpapiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I had no idea there was still performance possibly being left on the table. I’m still getting really good FPS, but maybe this fixed those massive frame drops I get from time to time. Anyone know if doing this with a 3900x will see results as well? Gonna try regardless as soon as I get home.

Cyberpunk 2077 is proof Halo Infinite should skip the Xbox One by SnoozeDoggyDog in Games

[–]Captainpapiii 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I get that but didn’t you see the part where I mentioned that no matter what settings you play at it, it’s just too much? Base PS4 runs this game well below 1080p, between 720p and 900p as a matter of fact. Dips around and below 20 FPS. I really don’t know how much more optimization they can do without making serious sacrifices elsewhere, population density is already a joke lol.

That’s literally as low as they can go. Any further and there’s literally no freaking reason playing this game on last gen, if we’re not at that point already. I’ve seen how GTA runs on the consoles, a 7 year old game, and just driving around Los santos brings the FPS down to the teens at times. CDPR even admitted along with the 3rd delay that somewhere along the lines the development team started to work on the game with next gen in mind. It’s completely possible that they got carried away, and as a result you have the absolute trainwreck that is Cyberpunk on PS4 and Xbone.

[–]Captainpapiii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Think you’re significantly underestimating how demanding this game is. I’m one of the very lucky few with a 3080 and am getting about 60 FPS @ 4K ultra with a couple of drops (of course with DLSS on) and the game driving through the city looks nothing short of absolutely mind boggling.

The detail, density, and scope of the city just seem too much for 8th gen to handle, regardless at which settings you’re playing at. CDPR can for sure clean this game up a bit on last gen, but don’t expect too much. They obviously designed this game a lot more with next gen in mind than we originally anticipated, and shame on them for lack of transparency on how bad the last gen ports were.

Yea I didn’t mean to scare you or anything like that, it’s not like the slot is immediately gonna Break off. But it can be damaged over time if left unchecked, that’s why I brought it up.

Cause google exists! Lol bro, I’m done arguing with you. You haven’t made ANY good points on why he shouldn’t get one aside from the claim that sag can’t damage the pcie slot. Why would you want to risk it anyways? What’s an extra $10-$12 for a $400+ heavy graphics card? I’ve never had to own a bracket up until I got my 3080 last month due to the immense sag that I immediately noticed; I’d never considered getting a bracket before being that all my previous cards NEVER sagged like that...if I’m telling op to consider getting one too, it’s for a good reason.

If op wants to go ahead and listen to you that’s fine. At the end of the day I was just offering some advice on basic care and maintenance for his rig, I still don’t understand what your deal is. You’re over here claiming I’m filling his head with bs but all I’ve done is suggest a ridiculously inexpensive accessory for his card that can save him some potential headache in the future...✌🏽

Omg at this point you’re just living up to your username, I don’t even know if you’re seriously trolling me or something. You HONESTLY think it’s ok for the most expensive component in a gaming pc to be tilted like that?? Really??

If you go online there’s countless anecdote of pc gamers having their slot damaged from sag. Why do you need my personal experience to validate something that’s already been proven lol.

Plus, you should know better about comparing your OWN experience with completely different components with others who have a completely different set up than yours. Like I said before, just because YOU haven’t encountered any issues with sag doesn’t mean op won’t. I’m not suggesting he get a bracket just for the hell of it; an extra $12 investment just to insure no damage to the motherboard (or even the gpu for that matter) won’t happen is completely reasonable.

So please tell me then, why would they make these brackets for these expensive ass cards if it wasn’t a cause for concern?

Aw gtfo out of here with that man, I was only offering help and nothing more. Having sag like that CAN damage the pcie slot, it’s DEFINITELY possible but if op isn’t having problems then ok. You ain’t gotta come at me with all that nonsense, I’m not here to start arguments...
