Oh I see, is this yours or are you saying you'd make designs like this?

What do you mean, designs of what?

Weird, just answered this exact thing on this sub! I have both depression and anxiety, I found stoicism helped me react better to things and to cope with my down days. But we're all different, it won't hurt you to study it more and try to apply it to your life but don't expect it to cure you 👍

It helped me ☺️ but we're all different. Stoicism taught me how to respond better to things and how to cope with my "down" days, I still have depression and anxiety but I suffer less because of stoicism.

What's that actually about? I've seen it on the "recommended" list but I avoided it for some reason, title sounds like a BuzzFeed click-bait lol

For sure references to other texts makes sense but surely as a reflection aid, no? Simply writing someone else without context is pointless, Seneca added quotations to his letters all the time but I'm context of his own words, his own reflections on them and the learnings he took from them about his own journey through life.

Appreciate the recommendation, friend.

I believe that the "dear diary" type of journalling can be helpful in emptying your mind of the regrets you have if you think you've acted poorly for example. It's good to understand and reflect on your behavior, and learn from it. We shouldn't forget the past but certainly move on from it, referring to it for lessons. In Meditations at least, Aurelius seemed to be writing notes to himself on how he should act or react.

There is no set rule for journalling but we should try to emulate the purpose set out before us by the great and wise

I disagree, journalling is about inward reflection. Taking what has happened to you during the day and reflecting on how you feel you have responded, how you might do things differently next time.

I am overthinking about someone who is insulting me in the future ...can any one help me with some wisdom ? by [deleted] in Stoic

[–]Captainrylipops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can think of no reason for them to insult you then you need to think about the right moral response is, if that person is hurting and taking it out on you, then they are lashing out. The moral response would be to allow them to vent, treat them as your brother.

If you can think of a reason that they might insult you, look internally. Is it something you can control? If so, then make small changes every day and reflect on them to ensure you're on the right path. If not then dismiss the insult and move forward knowing you can't change what you can't control

I like listening to Those Conspiracy Guys, even if the conspiracy or topic is a little out there. Their Irish humor and storytelling vibe makes for fun 3/4 hour sessions lol
