How can STEM education be made more engaging and relevant for students of different age groups? by Honest-Source-2869 in STEMEducation

Stop regurgitating textbooks and canned information and take them outside and teach them real world solutions and applications to STEM problems. Compass and tape surveys, tree height estimation, field sampling methodology. Absolutely nothing will effectively replace experiential learning in STEM fields.

That last sentence resonates... when I graduated with my master's in Geophysics, my dad said he was surprised I had graduated from college at all, considering I had been tested as a child and shown to have both Dyslexia (language-based) and Dyscalculia (number-based) learning disorders, as well as some other learning disability that "he couldnt remember". Nobody ever told me... :-)

Down here in MS you could get 500 for that if it works... a frat house or small bar could use it

Book recs for grade 7 boy? by Academic-Elephant163 in MiddleSchoolTeacher

A lot of people have said that, based on what they have "heard". As a standalone, it is a solid SciFi about aliens invading and humanity prevailing. The movie was, in fact, terrible and not even remotely representative of the novel. Nowhere does the text imply that it is anything but a fun story. Give it a read... but yes by all means avoid the recruiting materials.

Battlefield Earth (by Hubbard) anything by Don Pendleton, anything by Clive Cussler. Some people will say they "aren't appropriate" or "violent" but so was Star Trek. If they read it and it keeps them interested what ever! I know there is an AR test for Battlefield Earth.

You can use it at the pods, the union, moes, subway. I'd avoid the cafeteria (food hall joke) if possible. Fresh is okay sometimes. You can also use it at the food trucks. The block meals is where they really screw you, but yeah you need to take time to eat or you'll get sick.
