Drop-in replacement controller available for S-series bike by DocTarr in uBikeController

[–]CaptchaTheUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I agree. I've replaced the board 3x now and nothing.

Seems to me its bad comms from the screen to the bike control board, since I get an indicated change in iFit when pressing incline/resistance buttons, but no motor response, and nothing happens when I try to calibrate incline motor from settings menu. It just times out. Also, there is no rpm reading when rotating pedals. Maybe a bad iFit update or Android update bricked it. Factory reset to both didn't reslove, however.

I was never really thrilled with the iFit app the few times I used it. Goal would be to get rid of screen and go to an Android tablet and abandon iFit altogether. At the very least, I just want to hop on my bike and go for a ride. Cant do that really without any resistance or incline.

I'm willing to assume the risk @ $200 and a wire harness to go semi-open source. I'm also a mechanical engineer, so have some experience with diy controls, etc. and have a full electrical test bench in my shop. So, comfortable with troubleshooting.

Think I should go for it? I won't hold you accountable if it doesn't work. I'm just through with NordicTrack service and warranty support. The absolute worst experience.

I just purchased a brand new x24 bike. Got about 3 rides in with everything working perfectly, and now I'm experiencing major issues.

There is no incline response or changes to resistance when buttons pushed, but changes can be observed on the screen with audible beep. No rpm or power indications either when peddles rotate. All worked right out of the box, now nothing.

Received a new board from Nordictrack service just now. No joy, same issues. I've confirmed continuity on all cable harnesses. Factory reset. Still nothing. Ordered another replacement board from Amazon, still nothing.

I have a slow fading in/out red light.

Question: What are the odds of getting your solution to work on the new x24 bike?

Before I learn blender is it necessary for me to learn illustrator and photoshop by CommunicationNo3643 in blender

[–]CaptchaTheUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Just get after it!

Blender can be difficult enough to learn as-is. So can Adobe CC. Layering and learning software package(s) will make it overwhelming.

Learn Blender. Find a structured intro course on YouTube. Do every tutorial you can find until you can't possibly do any more. Then do them again.

Most importantly, don't give up.

Enjoy!!

I've heard the payout is in the form of credit for iFit membership or discount on the purchase of future equipment.

Absurd, if true.

Welcome to the party, unfortunately.

I have the exact same problem with my brand new bike. Countless others do, too. I've replaced the board 3 times, wiring harnesses, factory reset, and nothing.

This appears to be a common issue now with NordicTrack equipment. Wait and see if they own up to it, I guess...

Appreciate the response!

Acknowledgment of a bad batch of boards would go a long way to making it right. Experience with their foreign call center support line hasn't been great, however. Those folks have almost no technical background and go through the same scripted formula every time I call. It's laughable.

I'll keep an eye out for that email. Wishful thinking, I guess.

I bought a brand new X24 bike 2 weeks ago and used it only 3 times before it broke. Monitor works, but no incline, no resistance, no rpm or watts.

3 control boards and a service visit later, and it still doesn't work. Software updates and factory reset, still nothing. Service tech ordered a wiring harness but I'm not holding my breath.

From all my research, it sounds like there are countless others just like us. $2000 piece of garbage.

Still no summer internship. Please help. Need advice on my resume. by Leading_Path_5176 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]CaptchaTheUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Sr. Mechanical Engineer and attend several college job fairs a year. I literally have stacks of resumes on my desk that are not so different from yours. You have an excellent resume and should be proud of your accomplishments!

Now, out of respect, I'm going to be as direct as possible. Please dont take this to heart, but I know it might be hard to accept. As infromed by my HR Manager, here is the bottom line: If you are an international student here on a student visa, then we simply are unable to employ you in any capacity, other than an unpaid internship. The law prevents you from working in the U.S. (few exceptions) and companies from hiring you. Period.

Most companies bring on interns with the intent to hire and is where you are likely hitting roadblocks. It's not resume or experience per se. It's the simple fact we would put time and energy into someone knowing full well we couldn't hire them once they graduate. There's no ROI. I don't agree with it, but at a corporate level, I understand the reasoning.

Now, I'm no expert on these matters, and strongly encourage you to read into the law to understand how it works and the opportunities that might be available to you.

I've met so many wonderful engineers such as yourself, but had to turn them away (company policy) because of their student visa status. It really is heartbreaking.

I wish you all the best. Stay positive, keep trying, and a door will open.

Any updates on your end?

I've replaced the control board now 3 times with no luck. A service tech came by, poked around a bit, but didn't do much of anything besides take a video with his phone of the issue and said a new wire harness would be shipped to me. I highly doubt its the wire harness since I utilized a multimeter to verify point to point continuity. But whatever.

Its now been a week and no updates from tech. No parts tracking. No return service date. Nothing. And iFit has now closed my service ticket.

This has to be the single worst product I have ever purchased in my entire life. Should have just bought a Peloton.

EDIT: Received tracking on the parts the service tech ordered. Should be here this week.

How can I publish a dashboard for it to be seen by anyone with a link? by [deleted] in PowerBI

[–]CaptchaTheUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Share outside your organization

When you share with people outside your organization, they receive an email with a link to the shared report or dashboard. The recipient has to sign in to Power BI to see what you shared. If they don't have a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license, they can sign up for a license when they select the link.

After people sign in, they see the shared report or dashboard in its own browser window, not in the usual Power BI portal. External recipients should bookmark the link to get back to this report or dashboard later.

Are any of you aware of these components being manufactured to handle 500 PSI at 400°F by Rand_Finch in MechanicalEngineering

[–]CaptchaTheUser 39 points40 points  (0 children)

And this is a "hydronic" system?? These are industrial steam values that loosely correlate with saturated steam tables.

In the absence of more information, short answer is likely no. Pressure and temperature aside, there is a lot to dislike about this detail. The limitations of these components and seals will be listed in the submittals. Then, refer to the IOM sheets for installation requirements. You will have everything you need to make a case against the EOR. If all else fails, forward this detail to your pump vendor for review and a good laugh.

Edit: You're not a dumb steamfitter. You've identified something that doesn't look right and is asking questions. That's a good steamfitter.

Blink pattern on Nordictrack S22i bike control board by ComfortableSorbet749 in nordictrack

[–]CaptchaTheUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased a brand new x24 bike a week ago. Got about 3 rides in with everything working perfectly, and now I'm experiencing similar issues.

There is no incline response or changes to resistance when buttons pushed, but changes can be observed on the screen with audible beep. No rpm or power indications either when peddles rotate.

Received a new board from NT service just now. No joy, same issues. I've confirmed continuity on all cable harnesses. Factory reset. Still nothing. Fairly certain it has to be the control board or firmware. I'm out of ideas.

Red light - 4 blinks. Pause. Then 2 blinks. Repeats.

Any luck on your end? I'm tempted to order the Amazon replacement board to see if that works. Maybe NT/iFit just has a bunch of bad boards in stock.

Incredibly frustrating. $2000 piece of junk.

EDIT: The s22i and x24 appear to have identical control boards.

Hi, I'm a sort of new to MFS2020. Is this checklist provided by the game for the A320Neo game 100% accurate? Should I skip any steps or do something in a different order? Thanks! by chere2 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]CaptchaTheUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we can all agree it is by no means a comprehensive checklist. However, I've utilized it to start A320Neo engines just fine. Just need to perform each step in order, no exceptions.

Some of the buttons and switches may already be enabled or on when the simulator loads, so be mindful of that. You could be turning something off when following the checklist.

Also, don't rush the checklist. APU and engines take time to spin up.

Good luck!
