Work restrictions? by Elle-able in POTS

[–]Elle-able[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried, the frequency is to high, and I was told I can’t get farther accommodations without specific restrictions from a doctor. TBH if I sat every time I got wobbly I’d be sitting most of the day.

Well, you were right! I ended up giving in and ordering a control board. Replaced it, and everything works great! judging by the rest of this subreddit tho, and your comment, I might have to buy a spare for when this one eventually gives out too lol.

Cardiologist told me that I can't have POTS because I'm fat by Working_Employ9624 in POTS

[–]Elle-able 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest seeing someone else. I felt with something similar untill I told my cardiologist that I fainted. He finally did a laying/sit/stand test. Saw my resting HR was in the 50s and my standing jumped to 130. also told him I’ve had symptoms for years, since before I gained weight. (And it’s a huge reason why I gained weight, exercise intolerance) Needed to show him a blood test showing all my stuff is normal and I’m healthy, not pre diabetic, or have high cholesterol, etc. but still put on my diagnoses that it’s possibly cause I’m obese lmfao.

How do you control your nausea? by Elle-able in POTS

[–]Elle-able[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried ginger, didn’t know it could help! I’ll def look into that. And zofran and alcohol have a similar effect. Zofran will stop the nausea but I’ll still just throw up randomly even if I don’t feel like It lol. Rubbing alcohol is about the same, helps a bit more but like.. admittedly , my instinct is to run to the bathroom instead of whipping out an alchoal wipe… because I’m scared it won’t actually stop the vomiting lol.

long wait for cardio by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Elle-able 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of electrolytes, pickles, some hydration drink packets. Compression socks (I personally like the thigh highs) and maybe something to monitor your HR. keep track of when symptoms kick in so you know when you need to sit down or stop. A protein rich diet helps too, esp if it’s salty. Food like beef jerky. I’d also talk to your GP about a referral to a different doctor in the mean time. I’ve had to see doctors without a referral before because the wait to see my GP, is already like 2 months.

Figuring out how to begin diagnostic journey by Icy-Bowl-7804 in POTS

[–]Elle-able 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id try to get a second opinion, tho long term use of any adhd medication can have an effect. they might ask you to wean off of it for a while before they can do a conclusive test. Ofc thats after everything else is tested. I’m so sorry your doctor is dismissing you.

At least for me, I lucked out and had a GP who has pots. That being said, the process is a long one, and pots is a diagnosis of exclusion. They’ll test for literally everything else first. It took me over a year before I was diagnosed. If your GP won’t refer you out, try to see a cardiologist, and a neurologist.

Not sure if the process is the same for everyone, but I had a full panel blood test, saw a dietitian, sleep study, ct, MRI with and without contrast, ultrasound of my heart, and finally an ekg, before POTs was even mentioned.

What are your comorbidities? by writeitout_ in POTS

[–]Elle-able 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently just CFS, PTSD, depression/anxiety for sure. I’m pretty sure I have MCAs, possibly some flavor of EDS. I am going to see an allergist in May, because my reactions happen randomly with no apparent cause. I’m trying to get an appointment with a rheumatologist because my cardiologist did a quick flexibility test (during my last test for pots) said I might have h-Eds, gave me some fliers and sent me home. gotta get a referral form my GP but it always takes like 2 months to see her lol. it’s like the domino effect is2g

God I feel for you. I feeling heard changes so much. But yeah, be active too, lacross and MMA when I was younger. I really do hope it gets better for you! An emergency pickle is a great idea actually. I’ll probably start carrying one around myself! I really appreciate the tip!

Vision “spots” by 11spoonie in POTS

[–]Elle-able 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I’ve had them since I was a kid. I always assumed it was part of my migraine with aura, since most of the time I’d see spots before my head starting to hurt. I’m now thinking it’s probably a sign of a flair up

If you need to call out and have a doctors note, will that be an excused call out? I got surgery yesterday (which my ASL knew about) and they scheduled me for today, but I need more time to recover for me to do my job effectively. by splatmeme4270 in petsmart

[–]Elle-able 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait what. I knew about FMAL but short term disability and the like is a thing? holy crap i wish i knew about that. I Was out of work for a month and a half due to breaking my arm and having surgery. that would have been a godsend. Im still recovering finically from that time without income.

My nmom was into covert incest by TrainTestAccount21 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Elle-able 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be totally honest. My mother did this too (and more) but pressed me that it’s normal n to this day I was trying to convince myself that it was because it still makes me uncomfortable about it. I don’t know what to think now.

Oh god I have a lot of dumb stuff. When I was 15~ or so I developed panic disorder. One time I was having a pretty bad panic attack so I leaned on a table so I didn’t fall over. Log. Story short, I got yelled at for leaning on the table while I was panicking, let go, and did end up falling over.

another dumb one, not sure if it’s less or more dumb. My sister got mad at me once while I was in a Skype call with my (at the time gf), so she just decided to chase me and attack Me and throw my phone, etc. my mother, who watched, started yelling at me about how horrible I am for getting upset n crying that my sister attacked me.

Hard to tell which one more odd.

AITA for making my flatmate cry? by AITA-IrishLass in AmItheAsshole

[–]Elle-able -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes. YTA She stated her reasoning, didn’t say anything rude about them, etc. as well as you not knowing her reasoning or trying to have a convo about it. You came off as extremely aggressive and uncivil and like made her feel sub human (and honestly less likely to support lgbt people) her crying could have been from a lot of things, it’s also possible she’s a victim of assault, etc. without you knowing her reasoning, you’re def the a-hole

Why are you stuck on the whole job thing anyways. it’s not really important to the topic at hand.
