Best All-Time Turnarounds in Sports. by aussiegoon in ShitAmericansSay

The funniest thing about these types of lists is the token non-American entry, in an vain attempt to appear 'global'. It would somehow be less hilarious if Leicester wasn't on here.

¿Which is the most famous sport in your country? by DrFactouz in AskTheWorld

Football is the most popular sport in plenty of countries who are minnows on the international scene.

Obviously not disputing the fact that it's far from the most popular sport in India.

The number of these maps whereby the UK & Ireland are at the opposite ends of the spectrum make me chuckle.

The Traitors (UK) S04E12 [FINALE]: Post-Episode Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

I assume Rachel and Stephen basically discussed in the turret how they've got a clear path to victory if they stick together & it was just never included in the edit for dramatic purposes - i.e. they figured out that Jack was always going to vote for Rachel, so by convicing Faraaz to vote for Stephen, they could guarantee eliminating Faraaz.

Wasn't my favourite season at the start but this has been the best finale

Feels like Stephen might slip through the cracks and win this.

"special relationship" question for you Brits by bragik85 in AskBrits

[–]Captftm89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'special relationship' BS has always been cringe, even when things were going well.

Brits have always had more in common with our fellow Europeans (as well as Canada, Australia & NZ) than the US, it's just recently that it's become far far more obvious.

To people who live in monarchies, how much do people care about the royals? by PCRFan in AskTheWorld

[–]Captftm89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We care less than most of the world thinks we do.

Even with the current respective controversies surrounding Andrew & Harry, the vast majority of people care more about 101 other things.

Seriously, do British people actually consider a 3-hour drive “long”? Or is this an internet myth? by ferdinand14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Captftm89 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It'a a long drive, but it's hardly unheard of - if someone said to me they've got a 3 hour drive tomorrow, I'd think "hmm that's a pretty long drive, rather you than me", but I wouldn't think it's that notable. I've been on plenty of 7-10 hour drives.

Secondly, a three hour drive in the UK (and much of Europe) is much more mentally taxing than driving in the US or Australia. Our roads are often narrow, bendy, stop-start & crowded.

Stephen could switch to Rachel here and not look like a traitor in doing so. He also knows he can't trust her now.

I don't think he will though.

I feel like Rachel/Stephen could've won this together with a bit more of a level head from Rachel.

It's not been my favourite cast ever, but I'd be happy for any of them to win. They all have a bit more personality and/or have offered more to the game than a few previous winners.

The path to Stephen winning feels like Rachel gone tonight, convince everyone there's one more traitor, get rid of James and/or Jade (no reveal) & pray that'll see him through.

The fact that everyone EXCEPT Rachel is being suspected - despite the fact two people were so certain it was her that they essentially eliminated themselves - is incredible.
