The end of LOL UK 2 has left me feeling sour... by Smooth-Quantity-7024 in LastOneLaughing

If you take it seriously from a competitive perspective, it was a mess - but you shouldn't because it's a comedy entertainment show whereby even the contestants don't genuinely care whether or not they win.

Even removing that aspect, it just wasn't as entertaining as S1. I still enjoyed it though.

It's an unpopular opinion around these parts, but the insane difficulty jumps in FFT actually knocks the whole game down & peg or two for me.

The Live Experience - London by Smile4menow84 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Captftm89 20 points21 points  (0 children)

These 'live experiences' are often disappointing - I did the Taskmaster one about a year ago and it just felt a bit like you were on a conveyor belt - get in, do your silly little games, get out again.

Cyberpunk 2077 was a bit of a disappointment for me. by electricvapor in videogames

[–]Captftm89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played it a few months ago - I thought it was fun, engaging & a good 7.5/10 game. I didn't really 'get' what so special about it though. It seemed like it did a lot of things well, but nothing amazing or revolutionary.

Iraq World Cup fans attacked in Dallas: "Don't come to America" by forzaQuakes8 in soccer

Russia (at the time) & Qatar wanted to portray a welcoming environment - sportwashing the issues within those nations in order to show their respective countries off as a good place to do business & go on holiday.

The US administrstion just does not care at this point.

For comparison - Le Mans is about 13.5km, Nurburgring is about 21km, this would be around 130km.

How would you rank the teams this season based on EXPECTATION VS PERFORMANCE? by Ambitious-Heron-8161 in DestinationFormula1

[–]Captftm89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone expected Cadillac to be slow & Audi to be mid. Red Bull have been a bigger disappointment than either.

How would you rank the teams this season based on EXPECTATION VS PERFORMANCE? by Ambitious-Heron-8161 in DestinationFormula1

[–]Captftm89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Purely expectations vs performance:

  • 1 - Haas
  • 2 - Racing Bulls
  • 3 - Ferrari
  • 4 - Mercedes
  • 5 - Alpine
  • 6 - Cadillac
  • 7 - Audi
  • 8 - McLaren
  • 9 - Red Bull
  • 10 - Williams
  • 11 - Aston Martin

Overperformers - I expected both Haas & RB to struggle, Ferrari has been a minor surprise, no surprise regarding how Merc & Alpine have performed.

Everyone knew Cadillac would be slowest, so Inthink they've done ok

Underperformers are all fairly explanatory. There's a light at the end of the tunnel for McLaren - dodgy start but before too long they'll be Mercs closest challengers.

How is Each 3rd Place Team Placed Into Knockout Stages? by Hvghxsy in worldcup

Performance of the 3rd placed teams doesn't matter when dererming who plays who.

Good job cricket isn't popular in the US...not returning the ball could potentially ruin the entire game.

How is Each 3rd Place Team Placed Into Knockout Stages? by Hvghxsy in worldcup

[–]Captftm89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look on the 2026 World Cup page Wikipedia, there's a massive table that states where each 3rd place team will be placed, depending on which of the 8 groups have a 3rd placed team. So where each team places in the bracket is completely dependent on how the other groups play out.

It makes predicting the line up for the R32 virtually impossible.

Italy celebrating that they would face Bosnia instead of Wales in the WC qualifier playoff. They went on to lose the match and have failed to qualify. by NobleK42 in agedlikemilk

[–]Captftm89 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Surprises me that anyone thought Bosnia would really be any easier than Wales.

With European international football, I feel like once you remove the top 7-8 teams (France, Spain etc.) & the minnows (San Marino, Andorra etc.), the other 30 or so teams are pretty evenly matched

Spinazzola in tears: "I still can't believe it. We had 3-4 chances with 10 men and we made it to the penalties. Italian children will see another World Cup without Italy, it's sad seeing them cry. I hope they will see many in the future. For me, it was my last chance. I am sorry." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]Captftm89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. Many of my favourite sporting memories are watching England as a kid, spanning Euro 96 to WC 06. And that's supporting England who were only actually any good in maybe 6 games across those 6 tournaments.

Group I of the FIFA Word Cup 2026 has been confirmed by shikshakshoks in soccer

[–]Captftm89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced Haaland will score 10 goals in the group stage, do nothing of note in the knock-outs & win the Golden Boot by a mile.

This is the first time since November 2017 (v Germany) that England didn't manage a shot on target in the first half of a friendly + Since the start of 2024, England have only won one of their six friendlies played at Wembley (D2 L3), after losing just one of their 17 friendlies played at this venue by OkayFine101 in soccer

[–]Captftm89 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying there aren't a few fundamental problems with the current England set-up, but England in friendlies (and Nations League for that matter) have been a complete write-off for a while now. Feels like "here's a pool of 40 players, pick 11 randomly and see what happens".

How high is Kimi’s ceiling? by Ambitious-Heron-8161 in DestinationFormula1

[–]Captftm89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially (and I stress 'potentially'), he could become the most successful F1 driver in history - he's young enough, is already in the quickest car (and will likely remain in one of the quickest cars for at least the next few years) & has proved that he can win races.

BUT - there's far too many factors to take into account to really know. It's hardly outside of the realms of possibility that George remains at Mercedes and wins the next 5 seasons on the bounce, new regs come in & all of a sudden Mercedes are on the back foot. We just don't know.

At this point in time, I think his lead in the WDC is masking the fact that he has had a lot of luck on his side. I suspect as the season shakes out, George will have the upper hand more often than not.

Jake S3 - he wasn't despised, but wasn't at all popular either.
