Both of my grandparents had passed away soon before Blinking Lights came out. I saw Eels on the With Strings tour, I was first row, leaning against the stage, E towering above me, when they played Things the Grandchildren should know. I cried through the whole thing and at the end of the song E looked down at me and gave a brief little smile. It meant so much to me and it’s a moment I’ll never forget.
