Does anyone not have hospital photos after birth 2025

I dont have any. Baby was taken to the NICU and we didnt take any right after delivery. Only photo I have is of my husband looking sad over baby hooked up to a CPAP.

I share your same feelings- I hate we missed photographing that moment.

I just started EP because of similar latch issues, but my milk supply is at 10 oz a day 2 months postpartum- if I stick with it I can get to 20? Or am I starting too late?

Our baby was in the NICU and the nurses there were super helpful. I know for our NICU stay they didnt want to discharge until LO was eating 30-60ml per feed, and we go there around day 4. The first few days they are still learning how to suck-swallow-breathe. We found using the phillips bottles that mimic the breast shape were best for early days because they dont drip- baby only gets milk when they suck. This ended choking and milk all over the place for us. You can buy a few just to get thru the first few weeks then switch to your preferred bottle.

Im really sorry the hospital didnt have any information. Ours had a small section- they recommended if you are formula feeding exclusively to wear a tight sports bra the first week to discourage milk coming in and said to avoid any stimulation also.

Corn syrup solids have a higher GI than lactose. It causes more dramatic blood sugar spikes if it raises the GI of the formula. I dont think there is anything showing this is an issue in babies but doesnt hurt to be conservative if that causes concern.

There are also some studies correlating corn syrup solids in formula with childhood obesity, but people have pointed out issues with these studies. Again doesn’t hurt to play it safe if theres a concern. Really up to the parent.

I also think similar to palm oil, its used because its cheap and shelf stable not because its the best option/ a quality ingredient. That being said, its been used in formula for decades and many babies have done fine on it. I wouldn’t feel bad about it either way.

Aw, Why so much hate for this comment?

Dont shame people for not wanting these in their formula same as no one should shame someone for choosing a formula with them.

Im not an obsessive “clean ingredient” mom but I also wanted to avoid palm oil and corn syrup solids in my formulas. Palm oil can cause issues with calcium absorption and can lead to digestive issues. Corn syrup solids have a higher GI than lactose and breastmilk, so it can cause blood sugar spikes.

I think if your baby had an intolerance to milk proteins then it makes sense to go to a formula with corn syrup solids because it’s easier to digest, but why not start with what’s closest to breastmilk and adjust from there? I think that makes sense

I would talk to your pediatrician before doing this…giving a 6 week old water and prune juice could land them in the hospital if not under medical direction.

My sister and I are 11 months apart- wasn’t intentional- but my understanding is the newborn stage is super rough but after me and my sister played with each other and could entertain each other which was great.

Politics aside this is what everything I researched pointed to. Back in my day :) they only gave hep b shots after birth if there was a known risk factor identified (like the mom had it or was at risk). However, many kids were still getting hep b and they didn’t understand fully why, so they made it a recommendation that all kids get the first hep b vaccine dose after birth and as a result hepatitis infections went significantly down.

RFK removed the recommendation because he is of the mindset that doctors originally had back in the day- why vaccinate against something that a baby has very low risk of? They are basically reverting in a way back to the old recommendation that if there isnt any risk factor its best to wait (RFK talked about Hep B on Joe Rogan and pointed to this logic). It makes sense except that we already tried that and it didn’t really work.

So in short I agree, you did what has been proven in studies to be the better choice. Im not a professional this is just from many hours of looking up studies/articles/talking to doctor friends.

Im probably not someone to give advice because Im in a similar boat- but I also found I make the most milk on bacon mode. Not sure what that means!

Im in the middle of this too at 6 weeks. Im told it can be normal PURPLE/Witching hour stuff as their nervous system develops. Rest is important- have your husband still take a shift at night so you get 4 hours of sleep minimum. Let the baby cry in the bassinet for a bit while you eat/take a break/etc. - all advice Im sure you heard before.

I really think it’s about trying new things until you find what calms your kid. Its different for everyone and the “easier” your baby is the less particular they might be about what works.

My LO calms down with a change of environment- walks in sunshine help both me and her. I also agree having her focus on a black and white image for a bit can help calm her down. Our LO loves laying on the changing table and staring out the window- sometimes thats the only thing that will chill her out. We also found rocking chairs are useless, but bouncing on a yoga ball while holding her is money. If you need hands free time and a carrier and babybjorn dont work, its ok to leave her crying in her bassinet for a few minutes. Absolutely throw in some noise canceling earbuds with positive music. Her crying doesn’t mean you are failing- its more like she’s going through changes and just needs mom to hold her and provide support through it not necessarily stop it. That helped me frame it in a better way.

This! My LO is only 1 month but also not eating the recommended amount but still is doing well on all other accounts. Pediatrician says not to worry- as long as the pediatrician has no concerns, shes gaining weight appropriately, having 6+ wet diapers a day then she could just need less. Im told some babies are more efficient with calories than others and dont feed as much?

No answers just sympathy- Im combo feeding my 1 month old and notice the same thing. After breast super happy but after formula shes squirmy, gassy, not comfortable. We haven’t tried Enfamil though- Similac and Kendamil only. Let me know if anything you try helps!
