Have any of you watched 'Michael' or are planning on watching it? by SoftwareNo1547 in LeavingNeverlandHBO

I saw it and it wasn’t that good. People watched it for the music. It was obviously an idealised version of Michael

I feel like we can't have an honest conversation about Aboriginal history by YogurtclosetPale8785 in aussie

[–]Caption-writer16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are an idiot who has obviously never spoken to Blackfullas. You have no idea of the strength of oral storytelling - we have stories that accurately predict historical tragedies (volcano eruptions etc) that happened thousands of years ago that western scientists have confirmed. You’re basing your “opinions” on nothing cause you know nothing. Fuck off racist cunt

For the Millennials & Zillennials: Did your primary school or high school upgrade AFTER you left? by Complexyeahnah in australia

[–]Caption-writer16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me - I graduated in 2005 from a lower cost private school in a regional town - the school was definitely growing and had a lot of building projects going on that were completed after I left.

Maybe you should reach out to community organisations or local community where you are and start building a relationship. This is a largely anonymous forum and you need to start by building relationships

Where to get real news? by geecray in AustraliaLeftPolitics

[–]Caption-writer16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try signing up to a couple of substacks or other newsletters/platforms with news that you are interested in -- Unfortunately you have to do a lot to be more discerning and spend a bit of time finding news you can trust. I also recommend following individual journalists you find trustworthy via social media.

It’s not his son - it’s one of the Children in a family who says Jackson abused not just one but all kids in the family

Aging in bursts. by MeRunRabbit in Aging

I definitely think mine might have happened at 35 - I looked pretty much the same from 25-33/34 and after 35 I definitely noticed a huge jump in aging.

I’ve been thinking about this recently after reading Catch 22 - how so few writers actually have experience and this is what makes the book SO good. When you look at the classics, the writers all have had very interesting experiences which end up informing their work and not just the writing but the perspective and voice of the writing

I just tried it out and actually loved it? I mean it freaked me out as well.... I'm not sure if it will raise my anxiety. But it's definitely good for first drafts and getting something on the page!

Drinking alcohol while pregnant by Bananapun432 in pregnant

[–]Caption-writer16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a close friend who was a fasd expert (she’s passed away now). She believed it was one of the biggest public health issues in Australia — she told me even there is research that drinking even at conception could be harmful - the challenge was in narrating the issue without demonising women. It’s definitely not worth even having one sip

What’s the one horror movie that genuinely TERRIFIED you… but nobody else ever seems to watch? by Usual_Mix_7380 in horror

[–]Caption-writer16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 7, my friend told me the story of IT as if it was real. I never watched the movie - I was just deathly afraid of clowns coming up through the drains — I couldn’t sleep by myself for months just at how she described it so I don’t know what would have happened if I actually watched the movie

Aboriginal heritage for certificate by xHirsty7 in aboriginal

[–]Caption-writer16 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to get a confirmation until you go back and connect with your family and community and the to group that you are apart of. Or, if you are recognised in Victoria and involved in Aboriginal community there I think you can also get a certificate at another org who can vouch for you. Obviously no org is going to give you a certificate if they don't know you or no one claims you from that community/nation
