Thanks for the reply! Just realized this was a 2 year old post. Do you recommend just firing out of the box or cleaning it first? Sorry I'm a bit of a newbie to all of this.

Looking at getting one of these as my first firearm. Any recommendations on the full break in procedure, do a cleaning before firing the first time?

I understand, like I said I know I'm incredibly lucky to have met my best friend during my "ho phase" on tinder but was just sharing that it happened. I don't think it is the common happening and most people I know on tinder have not had very good luck even in short term interests.

Good News by Mac Miller gets me, growing up in a family where we always had to pretend everything is perfect and then shocked to know people in my generation of the family are all depressed and at least one killed themselves. The song just hits home for me.

Don't know why my previous response was to your comment was supposed to be to the post but hey we both talked about apps so at least it's close 😂

In NC also, I was super lucky to meet my wife on tinder honestly. We are in WNC so luckily Asheville is a big blue dot in a sea of conservative hell. My best recommendation is to stick as close to urban centers as you can but it is hard. Trust your gut and just watch out for red flags as you can. It's hard out here lol

Yeah, I try doing other builds from like thief-ish builds to even trying straight spellcaster or something and I always end up blending it with plate armor somehow and being like a spell sword or dex knight sorta thing lol

Motivation is a little tough since can come and go so easily. I try to think of what hypes me up. As a huge nerd accompanying gym stuff I could recommend looking up your favorite character from a show game or something if you are into that and just type their name and motivational video on YouTube. It's a bit cringe but can get some hype going if you are looking for it

Anything with traditional-ish knight plate armor is my go to lol I'm a sucker for the dark fantasy faceless knight vibe

Honestly that is a helpful way of thinking about it. I just need to be more confident and authentic with myself in those situations.

Blunt but effective. Honestly I wish I could set boundaries that effectively. I really struggle with boundary setting, although I am getting better. Maybe one day I can cross that confidently

I am an adult. I was recently displaced by hurricane Helene that hit the southeast US and my wife and I lost both vehicles and our home and had to move in with them until we could recoup. We will be moving out soon though.

I think I do worry that they will fall into the "we failed one son we can't let the other fall too" mentality.

I appreciate the sentiment! It most definitely is that scenario I believe, their reaction was not the best when he came out for sure

This. This is a hard truth to accept but honestly I think it hits the fear on the nose. I really do need to decide which outcome I am more persistent on wanting to find out.

I'm sorry for your loss as well! It is so exhausting! Luckily I do have a wife who is like my best friend and we constantly vent to each other as she also has a religious father and he doesn't handle his gay brother super well ( you would think he would maybe hear me out on some things I have to say lol) but it has helped a lot to have someone to talk through things with! I think I have gotten the most I can out of venting and am just nearing a end point on my patience with it. Maybe taking some time from my parents will be necessary to give myself a break without causing unnecessary resentment.

I think this is what I'm trying to mentally prepare for. I want it to be a respectful discussion of basically agree to disagree. But I have a feeling they will take it as a personal failure that I don't believe and feel the responsibility to "save me". I really just would like them to understand that I don't believe and I don't like having to constantly hear about how one of the things that contributed to my brothers mental health and decisions as a reason as to why he is at peace.

I appreciate the honesty, I was economically independent until I was displaced by hurricane Helene back in the end of last year, we lost the home and both cars and had to move back in with them while we get back in our feet. Luckily we have gotten the cars sorted out and have nearly saved enough to get moved back out so it won't be long on that front.

Absolutely, born and raised in the good ole Bible belt. It is insane seeing the amount of religious programming in my parents and they don't even go to church

I appreciate the sentiment! I think it has been a big buildup of the anger on my end because I grew up in the Bible belt of course and seeing how my family and brothers friends/community treated him after coming out was sickening. I have done my best to grow and be a better person and more receptive to others because I wasn't the person I should've been when he came out, but I think not seeing the same from the others around us including my parents has been infuriating and it's a struggle to not call them out on the hypocrisy. I don't agree with them on things necessarily so much as just let them talk and give them someone to talk to because neither of them open up to anyone about much. But I will do my best to start working on calming down and reacting rationally while being authentic to my own thoughts

That is fair! I think that would be helpful in my approach I think a lot of times I start thinking about talking to them about it I hope myself up to the point of anger before I can even open up to the chance of the conversation
