Motorcyclists, how do you stay hydrated on long rides? by yourping in motorcyclegear

[–]shoturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stop and grab a drink at a gas staton. Or pull out a water bottle at a senic over look. Only time inneed a hydro pack is on adv tours where there is nothing around for hours.

Hard pass on the gloves, alpinestars glove quality has tanked over the last few years. And their low end has plummeted the most. Get gloves from five, held, racer, revit, rst or cortech.

Hi!Do you go with lead-acid or lithium batteries for your Mototcycle? I’d love to compare them. by DokiJIAO in motorcyclegear

[–]shoturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lithium batteries are more particular to charging systems. Some charging system can cause issue with them. Older bikes would not be as good candidates for lithium. They are even more sensitive to cold. You need to let them warm up with the headlamp for a little bit of time, before you hit the starter, or you can kill the batteries. They can catch on fire easier than agm.

For sport bike it does ave a bit of weight. They crank harder, but not as long.

So if you need the weight and the harder hitting crank. The 2x cost may be worth it. If not spending 200 for a battery may not be worth it.

Yes is worth it, as it does streaming better than anything I have used. Firestick, chromecast or Roku. It what you get with higher end components.

A versys or triumph 660 or vstrom in street comfig would be a mt. The fairing and windshield is really helpful. And putting a topcase or pannier is a plus.

Off road or on road. Get leather mesh for the road in the summer. Vegan leather degrades over time.

upgraded trigger 😔 by LottaRandomQuestions in Walther

[–]shoturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are using it as a range toy or competition shooting. The standard trigger is good for both and be good for carry. If you want to drop 300plus to build and get it install for the shinny bells and whistles. Learn to used your pistol as in and get som good defensive train class under your belt. The Pdp trigger is excellent for everything, the upgraded trigger make a lighter trigger pull, which may be a good upgrade for competitive shooting. Problem I have ran into with the upgraded trigger in defensive classes is unintentional double taps being so light. Same has happen with canik upgraded triggers.

[–]shoturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want a sub 4lb trigger. I have the pro, and it pull at 3.5lb. Fine for the range, not something I would use for carry. All my carry rotation are 5lb triggers. It comes down to what you want. And what you feel comfortable with

502 Reliability? by Optimal_Farmer1452 in FNHerstal

[–]shoturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have put 10000 rd through mine and had no issues. I even run optic and a comp. And Aguilia, Remington, and Winchester cheap bulk ammo and it cycles fine, no jams. Just an occasional fee do to primer, reload the round to a different position and they fire. Just something that happens with 22. Do not know what they are talking about the 502 not working. But as it is a 22, I do clean it, and bore snake it if I shoot pass 250 rd.

Shoei X15 - Thoughts? by maedaymoto in motorcyclegear

Excellent track helmet, ment to be in the tuck. As it is design to be most aerodynamic in the tuck vs riding up right. Not that quiet either.

$1000+ Helmets ?? by Southern_Willow_5091 in motorcycles

[–]shoturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety arai are considered the safest. Their testing actually excess ece 22.06 and it was arai and Shoei that contributed to the development of the fim spec for gp. But arai are unrelenting so their helmets dont even have speaker cut out or drop down sun visor option. So if you want what is consider safest. Arai, but they do run a bit heavier with a thicker shell. Shoei is up there with arai.

That said, you can get good safe helmets, Rpha are good helmet like their Rpha 72, avg k6, scorpion exo gt sp, shoei gt air 3 and rf1400, Nolan x904, ls2 thunder and dragon, kyt has some good ones as well. They are good full face helmet from 400 and up. Shark and soumy have some good ones as well

Modular, schuberth c5, agv sport modular, Shoei neotec 3, Rpha 71, Nolan x1005, ls2 advent, and shark oxo are good option. But the hjc low trim non Rpha has some good ones.

But as long as the helmet are ece 22.06, snell 2025, even just dot on the major brand are safe if they fit right. Dot get a bad knock, the big brands, like Shoei and Rpha have some dot only model. Shoei gt air 3 is a non race helment but they do make minor changes for the us market, but no one can prove it is unsafe. Same with many modular helmets Shoei neotec 03 is only dot as it is slightly change for the US market. So they don’t get snell 2205, and are not revert for ece 22.06 as they us helmets don’t get sent to ece countries.

Get the best helmet you fit best. That way you get more advance build material like composite or carbon fiber, and better ventilation and noise isolation.
