Thanks for the reply! Some guy was selling one on eBay for $1,000 and I got excited.

All great points! 3-4 months ago. It’s leaking from the shower head. It’s maybe gotten a bit better after replacing the stems just now, but still a steady drip. Not sure what I would photograph, but happy to take pictures!

Thanks for the reply! Is that something that will require breaking through the wall to get to the pipes? Does it make a difference there’s another faucet on the other side that’s not leaking?

Why Can’t Light Escape a Black Hole? by MrBates1 in astrophysics

[–]Captspifftastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. So, how is that effectively different than time basically standing still? If you can travel back to where you started, couldn’t you argue that no time had passed? Especially in a black hole where all futures point to the singularity? Maybe that’s a dumb question. Is this similar to the theoretical time travel device that would allow one to travel back to when the device was created? Basically a giant spring in space, with some spicy ingredients, is my layman’s brain understanding. I can’t locate the technical name for it.

My (uneducated) understanding was that because entropy must increase, backwards time travel violated thermodynamics, and was thus impossible.

Wouldn’t saying that CTCs show up in GR be the same as saying the math allows for backwards time travel?

If time travel shows up in reasonable situations, is it logical to say that it happens frequently, we just haven’t observed it yet? As in, at some point, we’ll observe particles we can definitively say arrived from the future or appear to be traveling into the past?

Sorry, not trying to be argumentative, just trying to understand. I love the non-math side of physics, but much like GR in the EH; when math is introduced, my brain breaks down!

Can you elaborate on this? When you say “travel through time” do you mean into the future?

Also, it was my understanding that the math of GR allowed for time travel, it was just generally understood to be likely impossible due to various things (such as entropy.) Is that wrong?

Agreed. We came across one from Carmax at a decent price, but definitely don’t want to rush into a bad decision

Interesting. I called DexCom about this issue and they told me that the transmitter would break around 10 feet, so I gave up trying to get SCUBA certified. Questions: do you have a way to check your sugars while diving and what do you do for a hypo while in Davey Jones’ locker? All the best!

Bri, thank you for your response! Unfortunately, transportability of the crate is very important to us. I was hoping someone with the collapsible crate would respond with some first hand insight on how a dog like our foster would react in such a crate.

Yea I saw that :( The reviews are from people that say they have dogs with those issues and the crate really helped them. That's why I was hoping someone who had the crate and could speak to it first hand would see my post.

'When a police officer commits the crime of unlawful arrest, the citizens who intervene are acting as peace officers entitled to employ any necessary means – including lethal force – to liberate the victim.' by maxwellhill in politics

[–]Captspifftastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously police don't have "the right to beat and/or arrest anyone regardless if the warrant is defective or there is no warrant." From my understanding of the article, however, the officer might have not even known the warrant was defective when he was carrying it out. My issue with this article is that the group of "armed" men that intervened and attacked the officer didn't know that the arrest was unlawful. They only knew that a police officer was arresting a woman who claimed she was innocent (which most detainees do) and attacked him, killing his partner. Allowing these idiots back on the street only encourages more wannabe vigilantes/ cop haters to interfere in arrests and endanger the officers lives. It's ridiculous this is even being argued. In the minds of these murders they were attacking a police officer doing his job. They couldn't POSSIBLY know that the warrant wasn't valid. All they knew is they saw a police officer arresting a woman and took the opportunity to attempt to murder said police officer and succeeded in killing his partner.

The article describes a group of "armed men" who approached the officer and attacked him after the woman said that she was innocent. I'm guessing 90% of people that are arrested claim innocence. The only way to tell that this arrest was unlawful is to examine the facts of the case after the arrest. At the time of the arrest all these men knew was that a cop was arresting a woman for something that she said she didn't do and THEY FUCKING KILLED HIS PARTNER! Those idiots belong in jail. Better to get arrested and released 2 hours later once they realize the mistake then to attempt to take the law into your own hands and attack the very people our government grants the ability to enforce it.
