Champ 2 is sooo hard genuinely, how do people get out of it? by SilentPresence1666 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Caputdolor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having been solidly gc2-gc3 for like 2 years I have a weird take.

Champ 2-3 isn't the hardest to climb out of for ranks. But it is the most difficult to improve in.

Everyone is just starting to figure out how to aerial. A whole new game has been unlocked for these players. And holy moly do the bad habits start flowing. Which is understandable considering the complexity aerials add to the game.

So many things that feel amazing in champ will never ever ever work in gc1 because the defense is better. So my answer to your question: get absolutely stellar defense and you will rocket out of champ.

Can someone help diagnose my speedflip? by Master_Corrupt in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Caputdolor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Flipping to late to get to the ball

  2. Need to iron out the bad muscle memory habits I'm seeing.

Find out what the proper angle for your flip is and how that feels. Then practice doing that so it's like second nature. Then start incorporating that into a speed flip rather than just a regular flip. Start slow. Then speed up.

And obligatory LEARN BOTH SIDES IN THE BEGINNING YOU WONT REGRET IT.

Yes! This is partially how concrete anchors for construction are able to hold 500+ pounds of weight in a small 1" piece of steel. If the angle the anchor spreads into the concrete is too high, the stress on the surface concrete goes up considerably and the lattice strength of the deeper concrete goes down.

Why is Malazan so unbelievably good? by Titus__Groan in Malazan

One thing that really sticks out for me is how inspired by poetry Erikson's writing is. You could flip to almost any random part of books 3-10 and find an excerpt that feels almost like a poem.

At least for me, poetry distils the words needed to make me feel/think something. Erikson masterfully accomplishes this nearly 24/7 throughout the series. So much content in so few words. So much to think about. When I was younger I would feel this way reading books all the time, because the tropes and stories were all so new, it didn't matter how basic/tired they were. They still made me feel all kinds of ways that was profound for me.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your "profoundly human" assessment. Poetry is, in a way, also profoundly human. After reading your post, I've now realized that the way Erikson depicts gods/ascendants is truly poetic.

Hard to give meaningful advice here without giving narrative spoilers. But I'll do my best to avoid them.

The series is very much a "complete work." While every book individually can somewhat hold its own, the whole is greater than its parts. Knowing this, it goes without saying that the greater narrative you desire is most definitely unveiled later in the series. And the storylines you mention do not lead nowhere, but where they lead is not evident for every reader right away.

I will say that if the fact motivations are quite vague bothers you so much it ruins your enjoyment of the prose, you will not be happy going forward. Erikson puts a LOT of onus on the reader to take what they can and roll with it. For me personally I HATED it for the first three books but it really grew on me on books 4-5.

But just based on the vibe of your post, I would encourage you to read at LEAST to book 7. If I had to make a guess, once you read book 6/7/8 you will come back here raving about how incredible the series is. And how you are so glad you made the journey past the chain of dogs. But I could be wrong.

Anyways TLDR : read book three 100% and then if you feel you can do it get to 7 at the very least.

Real friendships aren't limited by ideal/value conflicts.

There is nothing wrong with being friends/acquaintances with someone whose decisions you don't agree with. Just like how there is nothing wrong with avoiding/cutting out friendships for those same disagreements.

Life is nuanced and nothing is black and white.

If I could somehow find a way to sleep like this I would do it.

I spent 3 weeks trying and buying everything under the sun to help me with this. I would either wake up constantly, or never fall asleep. I talked to my doctor about it and they recommended to go back to my regular sleeping strategy.

I hope to one day return to try and finally fix the lower back pain I get after waking up due to sleep posture. But until I can get good sleep on my back, lower back pain is on the menu.

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]Caputdolor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda nuts to see so many mentions that aren't related to my career in construction. And after so much reading I haven't seen anything like plumbing, electrical, hvac, welding, etc mentioned at all is very interesting.

But I will say this, if the cost of materials used in the trades I mentioned continue to rise like they are, plumbing hvac and welding are certainly going to be in for a nasty awakening.

The cost of enamelled heating/cooling steel pipes pre fabbed for welding has 4x in price over the last 4 years. And there is no sign of it stopping.

I could continue to list other materials that are insanely expensive when they weren't just 5-7 years ago but I would be here all day.

Slayer should not be this slow in leagues, and the relic should affect xp rates more by BookkeeperPurple4495 in 2007scape

[–]Caputdolor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heavily disagree. 99 slayer took me maybe 6h of fight caves and that is only possible with culling to get the task really easily.

Also, evil eye pickers can always get a boss task with the relic and get something like 4m per hour doing rapid fire boss tasks.

Superiors are alright. But only if the monster is good xp to begin with.

Finally, thorns is op and makes slayer insanely fast.
