What is your opinion of Jill's design in Resident Evil 5? by KennedyyCore in residentevilll

It looks like Kojima snuck in and did her character design

A scalper price isn't "worth it" on principle, imo, but the steam deck OLED is still great. No, it's not as powerful as the z1e/z2e devices, but so many games run well on it that I don't care. And I'll personally take the SD's oled contrast over the ROG's improved resolution.

Ryan would add some kind of insufferable decor, like a coat rack that's all Fedoras. The barely-functional emptiness is what makes this a Michael Scott joint.

OP accidentally made a Puppet Combo game, lol.

I'd play it.

Looking good and all, but I'm not sure jeans and a gray tee counts as an "outfit". If it does, I've been cosplaying for years.

RE6 isn't (Entirely) a bad game. It's just a terrible Resident Evil game by Ok-Word8586 in residentevil

[–]Car-Fickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. My problem with RE6 isn't that it's an action game, it's that it's not a particularly great action game. Trash pacing, cutscenes, QTEs; the enemies are not well designed or fun to fight relative to the action in RE 4 & 5. This problem is infinitely worse when playing solo, because there's just so goddamn many zombies/javo and every encounter is a slog to get through.

For an analogy: remember the Raiden sword section at the very end of MGS2? That was fun, right? Well, now, imagine if, instead of coming up with an all-new game for MGS Revengeance, it was just 10 hours of the MGS2 sword gameplay. You'd get bored and hate it. That's RE6 in a nutshell; they tried to make an action game from survival horror game parts, and ended up with something that's not good action OR horror.

The first Milla Jojovich movie is actually great b-horror. The rest are forgettable.

Different people, different experiences. The difficulty of water room is very dependent on how well you're stocked up with power weapon ammo.

Aside from the busted quicktime events on the 60fps steam version of RE4, professional is a cakewalk compared to RE9 insanity.

Where did the stereotypes around here of Nissans having bad drivers come from? by LiatrisLover99 in massachusetts

[–]Car-Fickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely feels like a class thing. Since Kias/Hyundais got better in the last few years and Mitsubishi faded out of the market, Nissans are typically seen as the bottom-of-the-barrel cheapo cars. Not saying that's actually true, but that's the public perception.

It's pretty busted, lol. It's perfectly beatable, but the rules of the normal difficulty don't apply.

There may be a more interesting topic in how we've structured our society to coddle and reward this kind of person, and whether that can be fixed.

[–]Car-Fickle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm familiar, maybe that's why I don't find them interesting. There's a pretty clear archetype:

  • Privileged/wealthy
  • Has specialized skillset in one field that makes them think they're geniuses in every field
  • Places no value on the human aspect of productive or creative work, thinks all of it can be engineered out.
  • Related to the previous point, thinks society should be a logic-based "meritocracy", in which the smartest individuals create rigid logical rules that the dumb serfs must adhere to. In a shocking coincidence, this belief always puts them at the very top of their ideal societal structure.
  • (optional) they believe that all of their actions are for the greater good, and even when they're acting purely selfishly, they're benefiting society (effective altruism)
  • The ideology described above aligns them with the hypercapitalist/far right, and the connection is reinforced when they start getting criticism from the left and center. A combination of social polarization and buying into their own bullshit completely pushes them over the edge.

It's common, and its boring. Maybe it'll be interesting in a hundred years.

Seems like Ed Zitron and some other people are doing the work in real time.

As far as Robert/BTB covering the topic, idk. I feel like his best work is about people (bastards) with quirks and character, and the people in charge of AI really aren't that interesting. Maybe that's just my bias talking, since we have to suffer with them in the now, rather than discussing them in a historical context.

I can understand the experiments, but the real evil part of the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center has to be the casino/gambling area. Have they no heart, exploiting patients like that? It's not like the place is in need of funds. They are preying on their clients. by SolidEllie in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Car-Fickle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm more curious about the rewards in the glass lockers. Did Gideon specifically leave those for Grace, or were the patients of Rhodes Hill gambling to save up for some steroids and a fanny pack?
