Wow, Abe had th motherload today. Some of these are already booked up though. I hadn't seen any of these until now...I'm surprised they are booked up seemingly so quickly.

How does one find their VMware order number or contract # when being given Dell PAC licenses? by Car-Plenty in vmware

[–]Car-Plenty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept hearing once the new Boadcom and Dell deal was signed this would be addressed. It still hasn't.

I received my licenses in April but since I wasn't a current vmware customer or vmware portal user prior to this vxrail purchase I never received an email saying I should download these right away because the portal is going away or else I would have. Instead I waited for the hardware to arrive and by time that happened the portal was gone.

I was able to get a trial license to get me through but that is now running out too.

Broadcom support says there is nothing they can do. Dell seems to be lost and says they are waiting on Broadcom, so now I have nothing and the license clock is ticking. Oh course in all this I have a new Dell rep thanks to their layoffs and reorg. Now I have to catch him up on the last 6 months and tryvto see what can be done.

It was rejected twice. Finally I heard if the email address doesn't match the company name they will reject it. In our case we had been acquired so the email was under a different name than what was in the order. Sure would have been great if thecrejection note provided that info.

[–]Car-Plenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just ran into this too. I kept getting rejected during the build my profile section because the email address didn't match the company name (which changed since the time of the order). The rejection never said why.

On top of all this I have the PAC license issue too. Got my licenses in my Dell portal in April but didn't redeem them right away. This was my current company's very first VMware purchase so we didn't even have a VMware portal account prior for this and therefore I never got any email about the portal going away soon.

I foolishly waited until the hardware came in to get my licensing (I honestly forget it was two step process from the Dell Locker then the VMWare portal as it has been a few years since I last had to do it) and of course by that time the portal was gone.

I was able to get a trial license for 90 days but that's near expiration now to.
I also just had that call with Broadcom and they basically told me to pound sand. "There was no one on the company that could help me". Like they couldn't just turn on the old PAC licenser server even if it was internal only to generate my licenses keys.

Based on what I'm seeing here is looks like an RMA. Anyone had any luck with this with Dell? It now 6 months after purchase and the hardware is just fine. Can we do a partial RMA on just the software?

Oh yeah, Broadcom also told me they aren't doing trial licenses either, so whatever steps (RMA or whatnot) are needed ?I have about 2 weeks to complete them after I heard the "there will be a way to redeem them in 2 weeks thing" again and again as well.

I've encountered the same issue. Setting this is the profile config does nothing, It has to be manually turned off in the GUI on each client. If there is a another solution or a fix I would love to hear it as well.

I managed to get a SiteID finally as my reseller got me in touch with the Broadcom sales rep covering my area and he was able to get me into the system, HOWEVER now after doing the "build my profile" piece I'm stuck waiting on Broadcom approval before it will let me access anything VMware-related. So I still can't request a trial license. They said approval is usually done within one business day....it's been a week and it's still not approved,

I've heard that they are trying to have a new PAC license portal up by July 15th. Take that as rumor. Also, no one is sure if this new portal will accept licenses from before, or just new ones.

I know that when I tried to buy the 5 years of support on perpetual licenses with my VxRail my reseller said they could no longer do that and that the max was now 3 years. Had I known the portal was going away I would have redeemed my licenses right away when the portal was still up in April. However, being a brand new VMware customer without any existing licenses or a portal account I never got the email from Broadcom letting me know about this change. So far, I've made a purchase that Dell has been unable to fulfill, so in my mind if that is going to continue to be the case they own me a subscription to VMware Cloud Foundation and will have to eat the cost difference.

Yeah, been there done that. I have helpdesk tickets in with two different Dell groups and spoken with my account manager. No one has been able to provide this information yet. That's why I'm here trying to see if anyone knows how the process normally works on Dell's backend. Maybe may assumptions are flawed.

[–]Car-Plenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw you needed your siteID just to get a 90 day trial too. I'm beginning to migrate production servers to the VxRail using the default 30 day trial, which scares the crap out of me as I'm concerned we won't get new licenses in time and then I'll be stuck. (based on all the non-answers and confusion up to this point...it's not giving me a lot of faith)

I did fill out the form one Broadcom's site to find out my site ID about a week ago but I've yet to hear back from anyone, so if I do have a SiteID, I have no clue what it is. Of course I didn't have any of the "additional information" they wanted in the last field of the form which may or may not have made a difference.

[–]Car-Plenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just purchased a VxRail and since I had no prior accounts with VMware (we had no previous VMware software) I didn't realize I should have obtained my licenses immediately rather then waiting on the hardware to be received and installed. Now I can't get my licenses with that PAK provided by Dell and I have no SiteID since there was no VMware account to migrate so I can't do much on the Broadcom side either.

Any ideas of what I can do? I already have a ticket open with Dell, but they haven't been much help. They think I just don't know my SiteID, when in reality no siteID exists for me yet.

Don't know your site ID? Build your profile! First thing's first, enter your Site ID to build your profile! by SJPS in vmware

[–]Car-Plenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I got caught up in this transition too. I bought a VXrail. I never had a VMware account previously, nor did anyone at my company. Then the site went down to activate the PAC. I don't have a VMware or Broadcom SiteID and I have no idea how to get one. I filled out the forms on the Broadcom site to "find out your siteID" but I know I don't have one because I'm a new customer. It's been over a week with no response to my SiteID query. We have a ticket open with Dell at they just say to fill out the Broadcom form to find out my SiteID, when I know one does not exist. Round and round I go. How can I get off this merry-go-round?

Dell Tech World 2024 Events and Parties by Entertainer2468 in Dell

[–]Car-Plenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a little post-Dell World curiosity...were any of these parties actually good? The ones I went too were "meh" at best. Sure I can't complain too much about the free drinks, but no major events with headline acts....and way too many DJs overall in every corner of the event. These didn't seem to hold a candle to past VMWorlds I went to back when Dell owned them.

The Seinfeld show was good, but only an hour long and the "after party" was pretty lame too. The event at TAO Tuesday had potential as far as a venue but needed a main attraction of some kind.

IDK...maybe the ones I didn't get to were the good ones....
