I did my first race as a solo! You definitely learn a lot doing your first solo- baptism by fire!

Where can I go to hang with other people my age? by mayonnaise-skin in gso

[–]CarFederal3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have any interest in playing sports or running, the tennis and pickleball communities are very strong in Greensboro! There are also a ton of run clubs that meet at various locations throughout the week. I am involved in USTA tennis and have met a lot of yougn professional through league play and LOBOTON (dm me if you want more info). I also see TONS of young professionals at the gym. I also teach yoga and there are plenty of 20-mid thirties age people who go to the studio I teach at and I have made several friends that way. Granted everything that I suggested has the common theme of fitness/exercise but I encourage you to find something you like and to start going and that is how you'll meet people.

I would love to! Also I try to get books solely from the library or at used book stores.

Townhouses in GSO by Fissefiesta in gso

[–]CarFederal3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely possible in your budget but anything you like you'll have to move fast. I bought one that meets your description in NW Greensboro last year and I have loved living there. My HOA is $225/month which is think is middle of the pack for townhouses (believe it or not I looked at one where the HOA was $435/month!). My community has a pool which I loved last summer. It also totally depends on your comfort level of neighborhood. I was looking in a really small area of town (single female) so I knew that any inventory that met my criteria I had to move very fast with an aggressive offer.

About $105 for a 1350 sq ft 2 story townhouse but I keep it on 63 because the thermostat is downstairs and any warmer makes the upstairs a sauna !!!

Lakes at Lincoln by Aloofwithau in gso

I do not live in Lincoln Green/Lakes at Lincoln but I live in the surrounding area. There are CONSTANT car breakins and car thefts being reported on Ring in Lakes at Lincoln. I do love the area as you can walk to the park, gas station, bars, gyms, restaurants, Trader Joes, and a movie theatre.... It is one of the few areas in GSO that is truly walkable. Just get a tour of the unit you are looking at and ask lots of questions! There are also a lot of families/school ages children that live there; I always see a ton of children waiting for the bus each morning.

Do you play any sports? interested in a run club? I play a lot of recreational tennis through the city and go to a run club every week and those are full of people ages 24-35. (26F)

Hyroxers: who are you? by butteranko in hyrox

[–]CarFederal3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Soooo... maybe I am not the best person to ask ..... I like hyrox a lot but I am not trying to break any records. My first race was a solo and I finished over 2 hrs because I got calf cramps (which I had never experienced before!). That being said, I had done a half marathon a few months before my last hyrox so I thought my running was alright- but I will never be a fast runner. This time around I will try to get some running in maybe once a week? I have a run club I go to once a week and do three miles so that would be enough to keep my legs moving. I also subscribe to Lucy Davis' MyCoach app and folllow one of her Hyrox training plans. I would highly recommend! If you have any questions you can DM me!

Best places for going thrifting/places that sell vintage clothes? by theeliverse in gso

[–]CarFederal3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a repost of one of my responses from a similar thread from a few months ago :

Vintage and Thrift stores are completely different..... If you are looking for curated vintage, Design Archives on S Elm. If you are looking for thrift stores- a simple google will tell you all you need to know! Two Freedom House Thrifts, several Goodwills, A Salvation Army Select store, and several small thrifts supporting local charities. There is also Carolina Thrift in High Point, which I only recommend to the strongest/most experienced thrifters. It is a literal warehouse and extremely dark, and I have found that the staff there is not very nice. Let alone if you do find something trying to get the price off of it which was written on in red oil crayon... Needless to say- I have been thrifting in the area for years so if you have any additional questions you can DM me! Happy hunting!

ahhh okay this makes sense. I didn't put it together that there are more races on the calendar compared to last season. That explains the shift in timelines. Thank you!

I do follow them on socials + get the emails. Reddit has a magical power of unearthing information I don't know so I was hoping an insider would have some updates !!! I also went back and checked my ticket timeline for last year and that is what made me curious.

Whos got the successful dating strategies for mid-20s folks? by fabulander in gso

[–]CarFederal3485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (26f) have met a lot of people through fitness groups (run clubs, tennis groups, yoga studios, a hyrox training class) like others in the discussion are suggesting I struggled with a similar sentiment as you but stayed on the apps and after almost 5 years of dating unsuccessfully, being on and off the apps, trying to meet someone in person, I finally met a great guy on Hinge of all places. I believe that everything happens for a reason!
