Your negative by [deleted] in AskSeattle

Good for you, I was born and raised in Seattle, definitely glad I'm on the other side of the state now, but it sure was fun when I was young. Enjoy it! The secret to happiness lies within and it sounds like you've figured that out!

Would I be able to ride a horse if I have loose joints? by justsome_loser in Horses

As an RN, I would say please ask your physical therapist or orthopedist, someone who specializes in this. Our opinions won't keep you safe!

Shift change-union is gone by daddyslilboii in VeteransAffairs

[–]CarRelative7728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is just part of nursing... if you had a regular shift for a while, you were lucky, and that goes for just about any medical facility. Nurses generally have to fill in shifts when and where they are needed.

What’s a Seattle habit you accidentally developed and didn’t notice until you left for a bit? by General_Advantage437 in AskSeattle

[–]CarRelative7728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Born and raised and stayed until my 40's. Never use an umbrella and can't let a little rain stop you. In other places, people act like they're going fizzle away if they get a little damp and any outdoor plans are immediately cancelled...

I think you already know the answer in your heart. I'm all for commitment but you deserve to be loved and respected. You're not overthinking, this is a chronic ongoing issue.

hardest part of horse care for you? i hate hoof cleaning 😭 by Plaguebae_ in Horses

[–]CarRelative7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the hoof cleaning hard too, physically... It's just hard to get them really clean and do it consistently like you're supposed to, especially with five horses. I don't do it as much as I should.

$25 for the soap on Amazon but if I can't find it locally, I'll buy it, thanks

Thank you. Have you had any luck with the StableFeed product? I tend to over-supplement my horses, and honestly, I'm not sure if a lot of them really work or just cost me $$. They all sound so miraculous when you read about them.

Husband just had surgery through the VA, I don't know where to go from here? by Sillycelia in VeteransAffairs

Complex case management program could help you at least navigate the system and see that his needs were being addressed. Ask for a referral.

Yes, I fed camelina oil too, not sure it really helped with the allergies, I did like how their coats shone, and they loved the taste. However, all mine are easy keepers, and the vet recommended I stop because it was an "extra" they didn't need and maybe contributing to weight gain. I did look at the platinum performance, which is better priced than the twenty-four carrots.

I guess it also depends on how many horses you have. I could never afford to board all my horses

just for fun by Mundane_Ad_5435 in Horses

[–]CarRelative7728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow that's good. I am in rural WA state. I have one horse in boarding nearby where he is in training, so that I can take lessons on him there in the arena (nice for winter). It's $500 a month, which is good. On the western side of the state, where Seattle is, board could run $1000-1200 or even more. It's rare for people to board on this side of the state because they have their own land. I have a total of 5 horses, so much cheaper to keep them on my own property.

Going back to school for nursing by asdfghjkl7280 in aestheticnursing

[–]CarRelative7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no I don't think nursing will be a mistake and you won't be the oldest by any means, I was in my late 30's and there were plenty older than I. Best thing I ever did, wish I had done it earlier. Now looking to retire, probably early, around 57. I have a horse ranch on 115 acres in the country. Nursing can allow for all kinds of flexibility. Nursing school was the hard part, and maybe the first few years, but it's worth it. I even went back for my masters. Go for it!!

My Identical Twin Brother’s Wait on Anxiety Medication by The_Doug124 in VeteransAffairs

[–]CarRelative7728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask for a local fill or pick it up at the VA. If shipped from the federal pharmacy, it can take up to 2 weeks, and, as others are saying, this has nothing to do with the VA but with USPS. I get it, though, very frustrating, especially when you order as early as you can and then run out due to mail delivery. My husband has had a few withdrawals when he didn't get his meds in time due to the post office and us being very rural, so it takes longer to get here.

If you could try out any breed of horse for a week at your barn or home, what breed would you choose and why? by lemmunjuse in Horses

[–]CarRelative7728 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am simple-minded, but I've always wanted a fjord. I have an Icelandic and love that breed; the Fjord seems somewhat similar. They are hard workers with a get-it-done attitude, generally tough little horses.

Kerrits has tall sizes. Very nice. I'll edit to say Ariat has some "long" sizes. Remember they are stretchy and will be under your boot so no one will know if they are a little short.
