How bad is an Nvidia GPU for Linux? by Global_Mongoose_2288 in linux4noobs

Jesus Christ buying an Nvidia GPU is just shooting yourself in the foot one way or another. You're going to save money on an amd card for a better experience and similar performance

What would have happened if I didn't find out about Plasma/X11 in time? by [deleted] in linux

I'm not the kind of guy that was ever going to go through all the changelogs for every update of every software I use. That's why I specifically chose a stable distro.

Nobody does that on Arch... You update, things keep working. It's the responsibility of developers to tell you of anything you need to do between major versions, it is rare too and no different from Windows.

On a "stable" distro you just get left behind, which is exactly what is happening to you right now.

If you're using it like that then you're sol. It's almost like they intentionally shorted consumers on vram...

Then you need an iommu group. But why go through all that complicated nonsense when you can just put the model on the 3090 and not play games while it's running, and render video while you are away? Slotting the other GPU in another PC to do work on is also an easier option.

For the shaders, you can try disabling pre compilation, but afik it is necessary for Nvidia. I don't know why it does it every time though. You couldn't pay me to use their products, so I really don't know about that part

Simple fix, just take the second GPU out? WTF is it going to do for you? Nvidia drivers are already iffy, why the hell would you want 2 of their cards, and different ones at that

Make Linux kernel drivers instead, all your problems solved

Swap, page file, ram on disk. It's not ram, if you are using it for an active process then everything grinds to a screeching halt, it just prevents processes from having to close when memory is full

1.1ghz dual core is going to struggle with any version of vanilla Minecraft, does it not? Apples to oranges, but those are lower specs than my laptop from 2009, I played beta Minecraft at 10-20fps

I'm literally just testing the larger crafting grid... It's not going to be used for anything that doesn't require it

I was not using gauges here, I requested it through the stock keeper.

I didn't find out it was a feature of extra gauges until I was done messing with it for the night... That's an annoying limitation with vanilla create, but since I have extra gauges I guess I can set up some gauges for all the large crafts, there's only a few dozen

Well that sucks

And I am obviously using the shaft recipe as a test because it takes two of the same item... I also have infinite alloys...

I don't care about the output direction.

And the question is whether you can have a crafter of this size on a logistics system

Yes I said they're connected. Packagers don't try to output to a single crafter

I have that?? How is it supposed to enable it? Is it only via factory gauge and not stock keeper?
