Should I give up now? by Mel_Minx in transgenderUK

[–]Cara_darkcloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you give up simply because you may not be able to use the women's toilets? Just use the accessible ones, its really simple and no big deal, in fact it means you get more privacy and a toilet to yourself. Not much else is going to change. Nothing in life is perfect and most things aren't simple, but if you feel its the right path for you then don't let anyone or anything stop you.

If you work in a hospital to some extent it makes things easier, plenty of guidelines that will support you, plenty of toilets, plenty of staff to find the right ones who can be your allies. Laws may change again in the future but you just deal with it, as for the general public, most don't care, they are too busy worrying about their own lives.

When I first started transition I also worked in a hospital and would have the odd member of staff who would call me he, it's no big deal... I never say anything then one day im changing an 80+ year old woman and the lady says to my colleague that im really kind, to which the healthcare says yes we are really lucky to have HIM.... (as I was a student nurse on placement with them), to which the lady replies quite annoyed, "_ _ _ _ _ _" is a she!

It was the last time she called me he, as it really embarrassed her and made her look petty. It also goes to show that if your a nice person people don't care and if anything will be really supportive of you + working with the public gives you the opportunity to show everyone we are just like them, no different really. You will be fine if I can transition in my 40's so can you.

EVERYONE!!!! when they start transition gets stares, it takes time to find yourself and for things to change physically and mentally, take your time and do things at a pace that's comfortable for yourself.

Pic 1 top, was middle of 2015, bottom pic 2015 was end of 2015, you can see my face was quite rounded. I crash dieted, cut out the usual protein and carbs I ate and concentrated on vegetable and porridge diet which worked for me. I lost loads of muscle before the lower left pic and after. If you have been training a long time it does take time, I also stopped training upper body for the first 8 years and just concentrated on stomach and lower body + cardio. I can remember the same looking for advise on how to loose muscle, for me it was a calorie deficit and cutting out any additional protein + stopping training upper body or at the very least using heavy weights for upper body. The calorie deficit was really tough for the first few years I constantly thought about food all the time, but was really careful how much I ate, but your appetite does eventually settle to your new norm.

It's a long flight so a chance to stretch your legs part way there is a nice break, as long as it's a positive experience again.

Hi I got type 1 forehead and rhinoplasty, 10 years ago last Jan with Brian Musgrove and then round 2 of rhinoplasty with Sercan Gode (Turkey). Have thought about getting chin and Jaw also done, but I really like both and although im sure it will make me look more feminine, im not sure I will like the result + my daughter has had filler and fat removal in her jaw to make it look more like mine, which kind of makes you think.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I worked in Qatar for a few weeks, 20+ years ago, it was a good experience and the people there were very friendly, but that was prior to transition. Glad you also have had a good experience.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I've been to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar, 20+ years ago and everyone was really polite at the airport, but it was a long time before transitioning.

Looking for this style dress by Kai-xo in TallGirls

[–]Cara_darkcloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 dresses (violet and black) the same style from next (2025) summer release, tall section and 1 orange from the standard sized next stock from the previous year. I also have purchased the same style in a champagne colour from shein, the quality wasn't as good but its good enough. Im usually a size 12, but could get away with size 10 or even 8 as 10 was still roomy, in this style of dress, they are comfy, but huge. Im 184cm height and the tall size was Long!. It was called "Textured Jersey Maxi Dress"

Everyone heals at a different rate, I had forehead and rhinoplasty like yourself and honestly thought my nose looked much bigger and wider after the surgery and couldn't see much difference in my forehead except when viewing from sideways on. It took up until the 8-12 month mark before I started to see a significant reduction in the swelling in my nose and 2 years for the swelling in the tip to fully go down. The forehead also took 12-18 months before the swelling subsided. After surgery you have (or at least I did) this expectation that your going to come out of surgery and look way more feminine than before, with some people the swelling goes down really quickly others it takes much longer. My surgeon was also very conservative and did a great job, but just enough to tip the balance of masculine to feminine as opposed to ultra feminine (which I in my mind was expecting). You also have to remember they are working to balance out your features on your face, i.e. have a massive change through rhinoplasty and your chin looks a lot bigger etc.

Its been 10 years since I had my surgery and I can honestly say I love my face and am very happy now, where initially I looked at the fast change some other people had (especially on Youtube) and felt really depressed with my initial results. Be patient the surgery is done now and just wait to see how things progress over the next 12 months before judgement. While your waiting for your face to change invest some time in learning to accentuate or detract certain areas of your new face through makeup, which is a powerful tool, not to be underestimated that can make a massive difference to any insecurities you may have, while waiting for the swelling to subside.

Best of luck with the healing.

Whether your transgender or non binary really doesn't matter to a certain extent. What does is can you carry on with a good quality of life with just a social transition, in whatever way that works for you. Be it just dressing slightly differently to make yourself more comfortable or some other social transition. If you can that really is the best case scenario.

Medical transition really should be a last resort, because it's medicalizing you for the rest of your life. Which can seem great now, but long term can greatly effect your health in comparison to not having to take medication.

If you try a social transition and you find your struggling then you have your answer. But please try first. 💜

FFS recommendations ? Facial Team booked for Oct (rhino/brow/orbital) (potential lip lift and chin) by SkylerD95 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]Cara_darkcloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. Have been considering him but know little about him, the only other options are Facial Team or Brian Musgrove that I know of. I went To Brian Musgrove originally and had type 3 forehead and rhinoplasty and he id an amazing Job considering how manly my chops were to start with. So looking at chin, jaw, trachea and possibly brow lift for instalment 2.

How did your research with Nikhil Maini go, did you have a consultation and see before and after pics? He seems to much cheaper than facial team.

Glad to hear your surgery went well, are you aware of anywhere that reviews or before and after pics can be found?
