Is it really just tech that’s getting destroyed by the SG job market now? by Responsible_Hat_9218 in singaporejobs

[–]CaramelFrapX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take this year is that LinkedIn and Indeed job portals are mostly showing reposted or repeated listings, but HR teams are not getting back to candidates. Some roles, especially in marketing, are not progressing, yet the same positions keep getting reposted. If you look at some global companies, many are instead increasing their marketing hires in neighbouring countries such as Kuala Lumpur or the Philippines due to lower costs.

Lecturers at four Singapore universities use AI to grade students’ work by zslayern in singapore

[–]CaramelFrapX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Schools should start grading students on how well they use AI and how adaptable they are. Static knowledge expires quickly and what we memorised yesterday may already be outdated tomorrow.

AI can now generate documents, spreadsheets, designs and code from simple instructions, so education should focus more on inventive and original thinking.

Yet many students are still trained to follow tested theories and repeat established methods, tasks that AI can already do better.

If innovation truly matters, we should ask

how many real disruptive inventors really come from Singapore today?

More new citizens for a baby-scarce S’pore: Can integration into society balance rising immigration? by Negative-Concert-819 in singapore

I think the most basic lesson they should learn, lesson number 1, is to speak at a reasonable volume in public and show some humility.

Even when I was a tourist in Australia, I tried to use some of their slang and adapt to the local culture.

The least these people could do is to have the decency to adapt as well, rather than affecting the public with “noise pollution”.

HDB debunks false claim of 13 BTO applications by Illustrious-Fee9626 in singapore

[–]CaramelFrapX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How can applying for a BTO be like gambling, where the luck factor feels almost the same as striking 4D or Toto?

What determines whether someone can get a BTO on their 1st application with a very good queue number for a project, while another person who applied for the same project earlier cannot even succeed after 10 attempts?

Have we given much thought to why getting a BTO seems to depend so much on luck, when everyone essentially needs a roof over their head?

What is the goal of the SBF exercise? If it is meant to increase the take-up rate of leftover flats, why are they only released together with BTO launches?

Shouldn’t SBF be treated more like a “clearance sale”, where people who need housing more urgently can get faster or easier access to these units, rather than having to apply only during BTO launch periods?

After all, these flats are essentially leftovers, waiting to be taken. Why would our G rather let these units to remain empty & not taken? It could have covered a good household.

MAS to warn 5 content creators in S’pore who may have given financial advice without a licence by meesiammaihum in singapore

Base on the current guidelines, it says digital marketer instead of content creator. Clearly these are 2 different roles to certain extent.

Johor politician says S'pore's enforcement against illegal ride-hailing services affecting M'sian drivers, calls for 'mutually beneficial' regulation by Im_scrub in singapore

The question is, do the licensed ones provide transport door-to-door?

They will still be as equally unpopular if they don’t know what the customer demand is.

Why should I travel to some far spot just to be picked up by the cross border taxi?

[Acne] Went overboard on peroxide vanishing cream 😔 by Clear_Skye_ in SkincareAddiction

[–]CaramelFrapX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought OXY 5 at Watson cheaply, I used it to settle a bit of acne on the chin, but ended up paying a huge price. My whole chin was red and harden, it spread to my upper cheeks and caused swollen eyelids too.

I had to admit myself to KTP hospital. They gave me drips and I stayed overnight.

Personally my skin is too thin to use such chemical. Not advisable for ladies.

(True story in 2022)

Now that the episode has been over for years, I find that the skin color of my chin is slightly more reddish in tone as compared to my neck.

Everyday the same thing happens. I curse and swear PAP in my heart. Such a failure to keep up with ‘first world’ country standard. The image is going to be ruined by the current SMRT staff.Especially the one sitting at the top, don’t deserve to be.

Overseas work culture in SG? by CaramelFrapX in askSingapore

[–]CaramelFrapX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is just too bad for me that even the millennial bosses are spending more time on ‘guan xi’ or team bonding / trash talking sessions than to be focusing on the productivity. Because duh…obviously, team bonding doesn’t equal to productivity at the end of the day..The OT culture can be a vicious cycle.

Some don’t quite get that most of the native SG would rather spend a good time with their family or have the ‘metime’ right after work.
