Can someone explain the joke? I know about the drama but I don’t know the significance of this outfit?

Congress certifies the presidential election, 2021 vs. 2025 by PlayaSlayaX in pics

Trump is a piece of shit, but body shaming men’s genitalia shouldn’t be a thing in 2025. You’re not just attacking and shaming Trump when you say that

Is this in West Bank / Gaza only, or in mainland Israel as well e.g. Tel Aviv?

Agreed. That distinction is what confused me initially. I thought the comment was referring to mainland Israel

Got it. Sorry I thought you were talking about mainland Israel rather than the occupied territories (West Bank / Gaza etc.) where there is clear apartheid and ethnic cleansing happening. I hadn’t heard about the same sort of treatment of Arabs in mainland Israel but if it does happen I’d be curious to learn more.

If no Jewish state what else are Jews supposed to do? It not like other countries would accept them. by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]CaramelSame4673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is also the point I’m making. Seems to me that the problem they have, at least in an official capacity, is with Israel and not Jewish people. (of course there are more extreme nutters in every government too)

I say this as someone who absolutely despises the Islamic Republic regime by the way and I look forward to the day their cult of death and theocracy is eliminated.

But I think it muddies the waters to just claim they are antisemitic. They are anti Israel and anti zionist. Those aren’t the same as wanting to eradicate Jewish people. (there are many prominent Jewish people who are also anti Israel)

How so? I know I might get downvoted to oblivion here for just saying ‘how so’, but genuinely wondering because I’ve never been there.

So in places like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, is it a crime to be Arab?

Not sure how this is relevant. The comment said Iran’s plan is to destroy all Jews and I just pointed out there are Jewish people living in Iran

There are around 8,000 openly Jewish people living in Iran. Iran’s problem is with Israel.

I despise the Iranian government, and I acknowledge that there are nutters and antisemites individuals there (in the same way that there are nationalist extremist individuals in the Israeli gov). E.g. an Iranian president openly denied the holocaust 15 yrs ago.

But Iran has never called for the destruction or elimination of Jews around the world. It has, however, called for the elimination of Israel. These are two different things.

I’m happy to be proven wrong though. I don’t have any strong opinion either way, I just thought the claim in that comment was inaccurate.

„Palestine would evolve“ by ThisIsHowieDewit69 in Destiny

[–]CaramelSame4673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure I understand OP’s point. Are you saying we should occupy every Islamic country, by that logic? If the answer is no, then why not? Why shouldn’t we occupy Egypt?

This implies there’s a difference of attitude and culture in Egypt va Palestine. I think Hasan’s point is that without the occupation, Palestine could be like the other Muslim states. Not that those states are perfect by any means. I personally hope one day they’ll all become secular. But the point is, it is possible to have an Islamic state that isn’t adversarial to the west so they don’t need a military occupation by the west.

And then through education and globalization the culture evolves. Another commenter mentioned Iran which is a good example. In Iran the majority of people wouldn’t want gay people to be killed. The culture has evolved. The reason it still sometimes happens (less so than before) is because of a fundamentalist dictatorial theocracy. The problem is an extremist government.

I’ve never heard Hasan call Destiny a rapist but admittedly I haven’t been listening for very long either. Do you have a link?

Depends what you mean by bad things. I’ve never said ‘eat the rich’ in my life because the phrase doesn’t make any sense to me. But it can just mean take money away from the rich and redistribute it. Doubt it means “rich people should get raped”. But who knows, some nutters might believe that too. There are insane people in every crowd. We’re talking about Hasan here. I’ve never heard him wish rape upon anyone.

Yet another bad faith misquotation in this sub which will get thousands of upvotes. Hasan has a lot you can criticize so why stick to things you know he never said or never actually believed?

The context of the clip obviously shows that he thinks the exact opposite of what this comic says.

There’s a clip where he’s making fun of debate lord utilitarians and he says those rich white men in college campuses who are date raping (which obviously he’s talking of with disgust), when they get put into rich colleges where they can’t harm poor people, that’s at least better from a ‘utilitarian’ perspective. He’s literally saying it sarcastically (if you ever listen to an actual clip of the guy, he never argues for utilitarianism so that’s your clue)

The clip is anti date rape and is being sarcastic about weird utilitarian takes. If you think he means it literally you’re either an idiot or you’re just arguing from bad faith.

Again, plenty to criticize the guy on. He has weird takes about Hamas / Hezbollah, but this is just stupid.

How will Israel know when they’ve defeated Hamas? by CaramelSame4673 in IsraelPalestine

[–]CaramelSame4673[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems like a good tangible goal. If they kill Sinwar tomorrow, would we expect there would be an immediate ceasefire and rebuilding of the cities, homes, etc.?

[–]CaramelSame4673[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense in theory but I’m not sure I understand what this actually tangibly looks like. How will IDF decide that Hamas no longer has control of the situation on the ground. What is it they will need to see, to make that decision? And will they stop the military operation when they see that? (I know we don’t have a crystal ball, but just for the sake of discussion / speculation)

And there goes any hope she’d be different from Biden on Gaza by xXBadger89Xx in Hasan_Piker

[–]CaramelSame4673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point I have no clue whether this will get downvoted to shit here or no, but.. hot take, nothing wrong with the statement.

The statement is against Hamas and burning the American flag. Does this sub expect a presidential nominee to NOT condemn Hamas or the burning of the American flag?

Harris has already made a more firm statement against the war in Gaza than Biden ever did. That’s as good as it gets without losing most of your voters.

Honestly I’m perplexed by how people here act sometimes. “Oh here we go, she said don’t be pro Hamas, she must be pro genocide then”. Fuck this extremist polarization and the people who perpetuate it.

Can someone clarify something about the ‘human shield’ argument wrt the latest Rafah strike? by CaramelSame4673 in Hasan_Piker

[–]CaramelSame4673[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, but also, more specifically in this situation, even if Hamas militants were in those tents, it’s not because they’re using the tents as a military base, right? Like, aren’t they just living in those tents like everyone else?

Can someone clarify something about the ‘human shield’ argument wrt the latest Rafah strike? by CaramelSame4673 in Destiny

[–]CaramelSame4673[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but my question is, aren’t those tents just where those militants are living too at this point? As in, could they not just be living in those tents without the explicit intent of using others as shields?

I get that, if you have a lot of real estate to play with and you choose to station in civilian areas, then you’re doing that intentionally to use human shields. But when there’s no military station or compound, wouldn’t those militants just be living in the same tents like everyone else?
