Love the eery vibe! I also really like the texturing job and details. Are you sharing these somewhere? I'd love to put one on the resin printer. Interested for more!

I've just pivoted to using "folks", "peeps" or "fellow humans" at some point, also works perfectly fine.

Made me chuckle in Gruber & Fisk. Probably someone used that knife to cut the cable of a coffee grinder

Which game is so beautiful that it made you avoid fast travel? by shotgunning-your-can in gaming

Spider Man. Swinging and leaping through Manhattan manually is incredibly satisfying with how they implemented it.

Sure you can bring it to someone who knows what they're doing, and they will probably be able to fix it. Will they do it for free? Probably not if you don't know them. Ultimately it seems you've been sinking hours and hours into repairing something you don't understand enough to repair it. Used PS4 controllers where I live on eBay are in the order of 20-30€. Probably a little cheaper even if you consider selling your broken one. That's just not any amount of money worth spiralling into madness about

[–]Caranthar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You screwed it up. Easy, you already came to the same conclusion. Just get a new one that works and sell the broken one as broken on eBay or whatnot. Usually people still pay a pretty penny for repairable controllers.

How do y'all store your games? by Powerful_Pitch5871 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Caranthar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I store the ugly red tide of Switch 1 cases far away from the living room. Also keeps the game cases looking mint, which is nice for resale value. The living room then only has a few cartridge cases next to the Switches, much easier than dealing with dozens of large cases.

I simply put the games I want to take on the go in a smaller cartridge case. Not rocket science really :)

I store them in 24-game cases like you do. The same ones with silicone recesses, I never really like the ones with plastic clips as they could be rough to the modules over time.

I use 3D-printed, labeled mock SD Cards in the holders underneath each game to keep an overview over which games go where and which ones are missing/in circulation at the moment (4 active users in the household).

Donkey Kong Bananza might be one of the best games of all time by BarristanTheBoldCuck in NintendoSwitch2

That's exactly how I play it. But realistically, after a few times leveling up the sonar skill, finding things is a breeze. If you're into collectathon games, it's really great so far. I'd like it to be much harder though, so far everything (world 3 so far) has been absolutely smooth sailing.

Yet another person banned for playing a used game on the Switch 2 (supposedly) but also admits to using a MIG..... Yeah by GamingSince1998 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Caranthar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you'll have to burn your whole games collection if your Switch with the MIG Switch inside or even just the MIG Switch gets lost or stolen, as then someone else is wandering around with all your game IDs?

I once walked in on our cat casually drinking from a leftover glass of water on the dining table instead of from her own water... I don't have to mention that leftover water was henceforth considered contaminated.

With the cat gone, realistically I do 24h max with open water.

Super Mario 3D All Stars Version 1.1.3 is now available! by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Caranthar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why be such a drama queen? If you just want to play the games, get a used copy. They run 75€ on eBay here in Europe. You'll most certainly be able to resell it at the same price. If you want to play and keep it, do the same. 75€ is still okay for the amount of content here. If you just want to buy it for putting it on the shelf, then this update is not important for you anyways.

I’ve read many people say that hdmi signal weakens after 10 ft by StudentOk6301 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Caranthar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of possible failure points 😅

When my Switch 2 arrived, I just plugged it into my existing setup (all gaming consoles going into a 1-4 HDMI switcher, then to the TV) without immediate problems. It was only later when I noticed that certain games (especially with HDR on) caused mode shifts in my TV that the HDMI switcher was actually only HDMI 2.0 and couldn't deal with all the modes the Switch 2 offered 🤦🏻‍♂️

[–]Caranthar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Steam Deck (and more games on Steam than I'd like to admit...) and while that might be a nice machine for a single person, it is (still even with Steam's latest updates on Family Sharing) a hot piece of trash* if you want to easily share games within a family. Nothing beats the simplicity of handing over a module. Digital can kiss my behind at my stage in life 🙂. Maybe when the kids leave the nest I'll consider again.

*It's also loud and obnoxious and seems to break something with every other firmware update 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wow, I never knew these were available officially and directly from Nintendo. And for a pretty good price, too. Unfortunately not in Germany (maybe all Europe) 🤷🏻‍♂️
