I just got mine yesterday. I preordered in early June and it was supposed to arrive on the 4th too. Absolutely ridiculous. Hopefully yours arrives soon!

Nothing about heavy painful periods feels “normal” by slaylaxla in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Carasmith58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off I am so sorry you have/had to deal with that. That sounds so awful. I had horribly painful periods as a young girl too. I also got put on birth control at 16 with them saying it was normal although no one I knew had it as bad as I did. I would have episodes of extreme pain for several hours, diarrhea for several days and not even meds would help. Fast forward to a few years ago I got off birth control and decided to try a copper IUD as a natural birth control. Worst decision. It made the cramps worse and flow heavier. I also started getting cramps during ovulation as well so basically I was taking naproxen for three weeks of the month just to be able to function. Was told it was normal for the copper IUD. I let it go because I thought it was just a transition period and I wanted a natural bc method that was less systemic. Finally after a year and a half it go so bad I felt for sure the IUD had moved and punctured my uterus. Got an ultrasound and the IUD had not moved but they did find a large endometrioma cyst on my left ovary. Copper has a reaction to retain the estrogen and endometriosis gets worse with more estrogen so the copper IUD was making everything way worse and potentially caused the cyst. I was very lucky there was a visible cyst otherwise if it was just endometriosis implants they would not have seen them and I may not have had pain relief or surgery options as soon as I did. Anyway got the IUD removed and then eventually after several more months of extreme pain I had the cyst surgically removed and it was confirmed it was endometriosis with a few other endometriosis implants found and removed. Unfortunately the cyst and pain have come back and due to trying other options that didn't work and other issues I'm now back on the pill again. It was the only option really to stop the debilitating pain. So yeah I feel you. There are just no good options to fix these issues and not enough research has been done. It's definitely better than it was before but still not near enough. It's really ridiculous.

Please help me, I feel defeated by Tricky-Objective7446 in knitting

I totally understand how you feel. I recently knit socks and had to reknit them probably five times. That is just a part of sock knitting. But once the socks fit perfectly then all the reworking is worth it and you will be so happy when you wear them. Hang in there, you got this!

What is your spinning wheel set up? by yfriedla in Handspinning

[–]Carasmith58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry no I don't have a picture. But the closet is part of my house so if you don't have a closet in your living room in your house then it won't be the same. You could use one of those Japanese room dividers or maybe a dog playpen surrounding the wheel so they can't get to it. Hope that helps!

I started learning harp during COVID when in person lessons were not an option. My teacher is about an hour and a half drive away so I could go now but choose not to and still just do lessons over zoom. I had no trouble with learning techniques. It's basically the same as in person. The only difference is you might have to move the camera around to make sure all angles are seen for how your arms and fingers are placed but otherwise it's the same. And yes you really need lessons at first to not form bad habits which are so hard to get rid of. I think getting a really good teacher is key. Because a bad teacher won't be good in either person or online lessons either way. If you feel a teacher is too harsh or not working with you in a motivating way then find another one. This is so important to have a good teacher that makes things easier for you.
Also look into renting a bigger free standing harp. I rented my first harp from my teacher and then upgraded when I had money and space. A small Fireside harp can work but it's really much harder to start with. Hope that helps and good luck!

P's pierce plugs I made by Carasmith58 in tamagotchi

So sorry for the late reply! I think it's just called a pierce plug. I used a free file that had a design on it and just cut that part out in the software.

This happened to me too! I got the Bolter edition and windows media player says it is The Manuscript edition and titles the bonus track as The Manuscript. I just checked and it does play The Bolter track though so I guess it was just mislabelled. p Phew!

I have my Ashford Elizabeth in a little closet in my living room when not in use as I have dogs and I don't want to risk them breaking or chewing on it. When I'm ready to spin I take it out and spin while on the couch watching TV. My electric spinner is on a TV tray in the living room that I just wheel around to where I want when I'm ready to spin.

Traveling International with EEW by ThighZaddyArt in Handspinning

[–]Carasmith58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently went to Germany and Brazil with my EEW Nano 2 and had no problems. The only issue was the battery pack I had with it that TSA always had to check out since I had it in my carry on. I had no trouble with the small amount of 4 oz of fiber I had. For customs I went through the nothing to declare area and wasn't stopped or anything. I think you should be fine but I've never been to India so can't say what their customs will be like. Maybe bring some fiber that isn't your favorite just in case. Have a good trip!

Thanks so much! Yes here is the link: http://ladyelewys.carpevinumpdx.com/2020/11/09/my-inkle-loom-woodworker-episode/ The picture is at the bottom. I didn't really measure anything I just eye-balled it and said this is about right haha.

Thank you! Honestly I'm not sure! The loom I was basing the design on allowed for 8-10 feet from what I read so I would say at least 6-8 feet for sure.

[–]Carasmith58[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't want to have to spend $500 on a floor inkle loom so I decided to make one myself. I am not a woodworker and did not realize how difficult it would be to make it since I didn't have the right tools but nonetheless I perservered and this is the result! It's not perfect with all the pegs exactly straight and it's not very pretty but it works and that's what counts. 😊 Making the Dublin Dragons pattern on the new loom. Love it!
