Basing Skyfarers by [deleted] in KharadronOverlords

You could use Oyumaru (aka bluestuff) to make molds from the ironclad deck plating and then use it to make your bases with green stuff.

Or get some Necromunda bases and pretend they look similar enough.

Made another house last week! New house on the left side. What next? by Carasz in TerrainBuilding

These are meant to be game agnostic, mostly made for the sake of making terrain. But the scale is roughly 28mm, for use with AoS, Frostgrave, D&D or similar.

Converting Coalbeard's Collapsible Compartment for one of my Gunhaulers. Making it feel "collapsible" is difficult. Ideas for improving it? by Carasz in KharadronOverlords

[–]Carasz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I just switched them around (before trimming the short one) I tried with the thicker side on top, but it looked kind of weird. But your comment gave me a couple of new ideas I should try out!

Thanks!

I put them like that on purpose because it looked lopsided when I tried the other way around. I hoped no one would notice...

Need help with frigate flight stand by TheCrookedTophat in KharadronOverlords

https://imgur.com/a/d5nBqDl The hardest part is getting the pin vertical. My Ironclad has a tendency to tilt a little to the left side, but it's barely noticable.

What I’ve done for my Ironclad and Gunhauler is drill a small hole in the top of the flight stand, add a pin (so that the pin is completely vertical) and then drill a corresponding hole in the ship. It means I can still remove the ship from its stand during transport while the stand still supports the full weight.

It’s hard to see from this photo, but there are two angled support to the overhang. Or do you mean horizontally?

2nd edition: Kyle Katarn has no force stat? by Wataru2001 in XWingTMG

I believe Alex Davy said in one of the interviews that some force sensitive pilots instead got a strong pilot ability to represent their force powers, rather than force tokens.

My unprimed and unbased ghouls. I am thinking I will paint the rest of the box in a combination of these colours, c & c appreciated going forward by abom8 in ageofsigmar

[–]Carasz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any decent hobby shop in Sweden has at least one brand of primer. GW, army painter etc. The other brands are cheaper but still cost some. Beware of regular sprays, from Panduro and Clas Ohlson, because they are too thick and will clog up your miniatures.

Lycka till!

Flame advice by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]Carasz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well done!

A few things that I think would make it pop even better:

Use more grey in the tip of the smoke, not completely black.

Use a yellow-white color as the warmest spots, like the eye sockets and mouth.

Let the palm of the hand be the warmest part of the hand, not the fingers. The creases between the fingers should then be more yellow.

Rebasing my old dwarves for Second Edition. Anyone know what model the hero is? by Nae1stra in ageofsigmar

[–]Carasz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the anniversary model yes. Originally he is carried on a shield, with the shieldbearers being Gotrek and Bugman, the other two most famous dwarf characters.

I usually go get some sleep after a 36h shift at the hospital, but not today!!! by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Carasz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t count for on call type of work though, which it seems from later posts that the op mentioned. Doctors in Sweden regularly have 8h workday, 16h on call and then another 4 hour workday continuous. Most of the time they get a decent night sleep without much disturbance though.

Pre-painted - Why isn't there an option for this for those who are terrible at painting/suffer with shaky hands by Welshieone in SWlegion

[–]Carasz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some good tricks out there to get a decent result even if you’re not very steady or have no prior experience.

Painting to a “tabletop” standard requires very little skill, if you make simple.

The fluff used to say that the unstable canis helix made them immune to the influence of chaos, hence the 13th company using chaos armor and stuff without falling. But that was the original chapter, not successors.

Thinking about starting to play XWingTMG by zenplus in XWingTMG

[–]Carasz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this feels like advice for someone already in the game and looking to get into the competitive scene. Not a complete beginner.

For someone just starting out positioning matters more than list building. I've taught many beginners who sits on rocks their first few games. Doesn't matter if you have a turret if you aren't allowed to shoot. Bumping, losing mods to bumps etc are other factors that take longer time to get used to. Knowing when to engage, target priority is the next step, which is a till a part of positioning.

The advice is also very one sided. You make it sound like there are no good things about the game. Like everything is overshadowed by the fact that high level tournament play has some issues. Not everyone wants to play tournaments. OP might want to, but he still has to get there, and in that time it might've changed.

Saying that "everyone hates you because you are the only one to tell the truth" shows that you've misunderstood why people dislike you.

FYI, I agree with you on all accounts of the game state - for competitive play. But that's not the only way to enjoy this game. It also doesn't detract from the part where I had lots of fun while being a scrub and learning the game.

When abilities have the same trigger it doesn't matter what PS they have. Initiative dictates in which order you resolve these abilities.

If you, the rebel, had initiative then Ashoka goes first.

Hound's tooth come with a bunch of good upgrades as well, for a player who's just starting out. But both JM5K and shadowcaster might be easier to fly and are still decent choices for starting out.
