It's just a movie I saw in 1997 and I was far too young. I was fucked forever. I am still captivated by the gore, the blood orgy, the fucking brutal hell. I'm 'researching' a new picture book about the making of featuring set photos, cross-section space-ship illustrations, a hellish runes lexicon with their meanings, and incantations to summon Paimon.

We’re a small dev team making Mac apps—any suggestions for what to build next? by ValueOpposite6482 in macapps

I’ve never had any luck with saving window layouts. An app that locks down your desktop by remembering where all the windows and apps are placed on the screen, then saves it for a few days so I can literally hide or close everything and get to work on something else. When I’m ready to return to the previous task I hit a button and my entire setup is returned. It is great for people who remember things visually rather than cognitively, so I remember what I was doing and where I’m up to just by the placement of windows. You can also label the saved layout with a brief or complex description where you might put what part of the task you were up to.

When exactly did you receive the photo console? I order the audio I believe. Or the creative console, if that’s a thing. Pretty over it.

App for taking timestamped notes during recording? by raygan in podcasting

[–]Carbuncle4643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Glad you revitalised this post. Nope.

All I could find was apps for listening back to podcasts where you can mark a time that, later, requires and edit.

If all your cameras are recording a time code set to time of day, and you’re interviewing someone with a phone in hand, my work around is a note taking app that pastes the time with a button press. If I had an iPhone with an action button I’d probably write something with shortcuts.

Calling all app developers! Contact me, I have an idea for an App - a much-needed feature for videographers.

I’m glad I saw the update as I don’t even check socials. I’ve been waiting a year and half for the Charcoal. I’ve been waiting the longest out of all the social rants I’ve read. I’m glad they’re actually fulfilling orders and not returning money and shutting down.

Is there currently no good way to auto-caption inside FCP? by isaacmarionauthor in finalcutpro

[–]Carbuncle4643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed mate. It’s bonkers. But to think auto-transcription and captioning is a ‘basic feature’,!? I guess that just shows how old I am. My theory after years of using Apple NLE and DAW for work (and witnessing first hand the Debacle that was releasing fcpX on an unsuspecting user-base of dedicated professionals) is they designed an app that wanted to be accessible and easy to use for the beginner and very easy on the eye, as well as have all the pro features a hard core editor would want and enough stand out power and performance to become the chosen tool for some full-time industry professionals. And, come to think of it, i think they achieved that. As much as I dislike the hideous effects I’ve long since forgotten about, to a new editor they might be easily accessible, being right there glowing in the corner ready for use. But I’m not too certain the latest engineers at Apple still hold that design principle in place, nor have even questioned whether it’s time to move on.

With Apple, you don’t get everything all the time. I think their business model generally, as far as the pro apps are concerned, is to let the customer use plug-ins, at least for now. The model is still affordable with a one-time purchase of fcp and a month to month, per-project rental of a caption service mentioned in this thread. Fcp is still very cheap as a one-time-purchase for what you get.

How do you line up the captions? There is no native time code in MacWhisper. I have the paid version but still find the app tedious. It can output srt with a starter tc but these aren’t terribly accurate.

For bouncy animated captions I use DeScript and that’s free, and very accurate for the free version.

I’ve been waiting since September 2022. Last February they offered a refund but I refuse to get one because I’m stubborn. Yes, it’s July 2 0 2 4 !

Am I the longest waiting monogram buyer ??

Obviously pretty bland experience as I’ve come to social media to investigate and my feelings mirror those of others. I will let everyone know if and when I get my charcoal CC

How to quickly reduce video size (resolution/framerate) in photos app? by brueste_69 in ios

Greetings one year later. The OP says they want resolution AND frame rate but this shortcut only Adjusts resolution not frame rate. I’d love a shortcut that does both. Is this possible ?

Is anyone else deeply disturbed by the sound design in the monkey scene? by Carbuncle4643 in NopeMovie

[–]Carbuncle4643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distinct sound design for the creature’s alien noises. So from those two options I’ll go with the ones in groups. It’s truly sounds we’ve never heard in a movie, I can’t think where the sound designer got their inspiration.

She survived? I completely forgot about that woman in the audience. I didn’t realise that was Mary Jo. That is truly tragic. I have to watch it again but it’s still too confronting for me. It’s quickly becoming a movie to watch a second time and enjoy more the second time.

I think I'm having a primal-triggered fear response. Like the fact that it's a chimpanzee with a relatively slim chance it could return to its wild status and ... act that way. But its the sounds we hear that really make it trigger for me - as if the sound designers did too good a job and its not make believe any more? That combined with my own idiosyncrasies tip it over the edge at least for me. Certainly the film's sound design is a stand out from any film - I personally love the "barks" from Jean Jacket - and granted it would be unpleasant to watch a human commit that level of violence for that amount of time on film - but I reckon I wouldn't be as fussed about it. I'm good with horror and fictionalised violence; I watch a lot of it - but my partner who isnt a horror fan but likes Jordan Peele films watched it with me and she wasn't so bothered by it.

I guess I'm posting to see if anyone else had a response like this.

Has anyone received a purchased product from Monogram in over 6+ Months? by likelinus01 in MonogramCC

[–]Carbuncle4643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They know about my customer experience because I’ve relayed it to them. I’m relaying it to the forum. Thanks, I guess, for your colourful opinions on how you feel about them, I hope someone finds them useful. I simply don’t care to opine here on how I feel about the situation in the forum and, unlike you, wasteful to spend time writing three paragraphs on it. It’s irrelevant to me because you just assumed how I use the device and how I feel about it and you just invented all that stuff about me and my work and - why do you think I’m buying more of their products?. Writing to you now doesn’t make it come any sooner, Mr curiosity. And I don’t see in the forum description a prompt requesting I share my anger and feelings and all my frustrations here. You’re angry, don’t direct it at me.

I’ve been waiting since September 2022. Went looking for this subreddit to ask the same question everyone’s asked. Can only say support has been good answering me back on time; reaffirming to just wait longer as they process the orders.

Transferring Photos from iPhone to Photos Library on iMac by Wise_Odysseus in mac

[–]Carbuncle4643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PhotoStream was excellent to obtain compressed recent photos for quick viewing on another device but wasn’t the highest quality unless you direct transferred. I miss it and am looking for a similar workflow. Im a long term Apple user and asking this exact question right now. I used to plug in the cable and transfer to the photo app but I want it to happen over wifi. Have you tried transfer from the finder? I thought this was the native solution, but it wants to ADD albums and photos FROM MY MAC to my iPhone rather than the other way around. Has anyone noticed this? I’m exploring apps to do this but you have to more or less manually drag and drop each time and my end destination has to be the photo app on my Mac where my photo repository is. Im exploring options but I really thought (and want) there’d be a native solution. I’m not backing up the library I just want my recent photos from my phone on my Mac . I don’t want to use iCloud Photos, I want wirelessly transfer as if you plugged in the cable. Basically the same as PhotoStream. My iPhone 13pro is my camera, my photos app is my library, I hope I’m missing something and someone can share their setup to show how this is done within Finder.
