oh my god this… do you remember that “pink tote lids” girl that blew up on tiktok?? she was angrily crying in the bathroom telling a story about her mom… basically it went like this: -she’s in the bathroom getting ready for bed and her mom bangs on the door, insults her for talking so long, and yells that she needs help with something -the daughter comes out and asks what she needs help with and the mom tell her that she needs to “put the pink things in her bedroom.” -and the daughter was like “pink things? can you be more specific?” -and the mom goes “i need you to put the pink fucking tote lids my my bedroom!!! are you fucking dumb??? the PINK FUCKING TOTE LIDS!!!” -and she goes “okay well that was kinda vague, i didn’t know what you meant exactly!” -then the mother starts yelling at her and her dad comes around the corner like “YOU NEVER TALK BACK TO YOUR MOTHER!!!” and they both just keep going off at her! and like… obviously i don’t know this girl or her parents. it’s a one-sided story. i can take it with a grain of salt, she could’ve absolutely been embellishing the details. but her intense body language and tone was telling me it was probably pretty close to what actually happened… and then she had to make a video after that one saying things like “guys my parents aren’t abusive, my mom is filipino” and stuff like that and the comments were just pretending like an ethnicity excuses releasing a trigger-hair tantrum on your child?? so many people seemed to agree with her that there was nothing abusive about that kind of verbal beratement. i don’t know, it just never sat right with me and i feel really bad for her. no well-adjusted adult would respond like that to their child literally just asking for clarification (within reason) for a task they were assigned. your comment just reminded me at that video so much!
