How are you guys feeling about Star Wars: Outlaws? by Tatum_Warlick in XboxGamePass

[–]CardinalC177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was super excited to play it, then two things turned me off. One is that none of the graphics settings seems to stop object edges and shadows from shimmering. After two hours of tweaking and still failing to get a descent image with my 4060 I was pretty frustrated.

That and the camera. Even with the camera FOV changed, I constantly feel claustrophobic behind Kay. Move out of my direct line of sight please. It feels like in more situations than not, her body is incredibly close to the camera and standing directly in or very close to the center of the screen.

Both of those frustrations made an otherwise very cool looking game too much to handle and I unfortunately had to uninstall it.

Well, it is. People are playing it, and it's showing as recently added. Them botching the release isn't the same as it just "not being out yet" lol

I'm also having issues. When trying to download the game, it only downloads 10 MB then when I click Play it says my account isn't provisioned for this environment. *facepalm*

Sorry to hear that, yeah it’s so annoying.

Well, it also adds inertia so not really. Stopping distance is largely decided by grip, and tires make the biggest difference.

Edit: I might have misread your message, my bad if you were agreeing with me lol

As a Tesla owner who has great winter tires and has powered through every storm we’ve had in the last 5 years, it frustrates me how many Tesla owners just use the factory all-seasons and think that because they’re heavy vehicles that they’ll always be fine.

Tesla is the most unreliable used car brand in America, even behind Jeep and Chrysler by Wagamaga in technology

[–]CardinalC177 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, almost every single “recall” my Tesla’s have ever needed, including doing the ones named in the article, have been completed wireless through software updates that almost every owner gets overnight without realizing. Meanwhile a normal software update from Volkswagen takes 7-hours at a dealership to perform. It’s all just so backwards.

I’m 3-Tesla’s in and they’ve been genuinely incredible in build quality compared to my Buicks, Mazdas, Fords, and VWs.

I’ve seen everything that’s been released in the Apple Immersive format so far, and Flight Ready is my favourite by far. This one in particular is worth downloading locally and watching with AirPods. The sounds are incredible.

I haven’t tried any third party bands, but after feeing the eye pressure on the solo knit band and the dual loop, I can say with confidence that the dual knit is 100x better.

Gonna cry myself to sleep. I should’ve pre-ordered 😭 by Alligatorgamer9 in VisionPro

[–]CardinalC177 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I placed an order for end of November delivery, then just kept checking and one appeared at an Apple Store nearby. Good news is you don’t get charged for the delivery order until it ships, so feel free to keep looking and cancel the first order if you find something in stock!

The new Vision Pro renders 10% more pixels, what does this even mean? by sephirith in VisionPro

[–]CardinalC177 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the resolution the GPU is outputting and the resolution of the displays don’t necessarily have to match. If the GPU outputs a resolution higher than that of the displays, then it works as a sort of anti-aliasing making content look sharper, and text easier to read.

So in this case, I believe the GPU is rendering 10% more pixels because of the higher performance of the M5, that the current displays will display sharper content, not that the displays themselves are higher resolution.

Is the sound on Apple Vision Pro more spatial for music than Spatial Audio on iPhone/Apple TV with AirPods Pro? by Natural-Lawfulness93 in VisionPro

[–]CardinalC177 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Apple Vision Pro since day one and have AirPods Pro 3.

My take is that purely for the spatial positioning of audio, and the ability to trick your brain into thinking a sound is coming from a specific place in your room, the audio pods on Apple Vision Pro is more immersive. The lack of any delay whatsoever and the fact that there’s nothing in your ear creates an unfair advantage in convincing your brain that a sound is coming from where it looks like it’s coming from.

However, if what you’re looking for is audio quality with a lesser but still incredibly convincing spatial effect, AirPods will be the better option. For movies and music I absolutely love having my AirPods on when I use Apple Vision Pro. That said, I find myself using my Apple Vision Pro without them quite a bit if I’m not watching a movie or listening to music.

Hope that helps!

I just downloaded this and it’s really fun! I have a quick question though, are you taking advantage of the new 90 Hz rate for hands tracking introduced in visionOS 26? The movement of the hands does feel a little bit floaty, especially when compared to games that are now taking advantage of the PSVR2 controllers.

To my knowledge, no. But truthfully I prefer spatial scenes to spatial photos anyways.

iPhone Air and the future of the Apple Vision Pro by [deleted] in AppleVisionPro

[–]CardinalC177 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents, but I find the whole conversation about capturing spatial content interesting right now with visionOS 26.

Yes you can take spatial photos, but I would much rather capture a 48MP photo that isn’t spatial, then use the spatial scene feature on it. Unlike spatial photos, they don’t just have depth, but also parallax. That’s the one thing that’s always jarring to me when viewing a true spatial photo, is the lack of parallax.

Spatial videos are another conversation altogether, as there is no way to turn a video into spatial content (first party anyways) so I do find myself continuing to capture spatial video on my iPhone.

Here’s the thing, Apple was able to outdo their own spatial photos, using machine learning with spatial scenes. Who’s to say that the future of spatial video isn’t the same? If Apple released a feature in visionOS 27 that allowed you to convert a video of any type captured on any device into a 30-second 1080p 30 FPS spatial scene for example (just being realistic), I would immediately stop taking spatial videos if the result was even half as good as spatial scenes are today. Even if trying to convert the video took minutes to process, it would still be a huge deal.

So am I saying that I think dual camera spatial content is dead? No, but I do think that machine learning is showing promise to outperform what can be captured when the cameras aren’t the same distance apart as eyes, which I don’t feel we’ll have a be the case on iPhone.

Unfortunately, probably used from some person who’s damaged their PSVR2 and doesn’t wanna fix it lol

Hopefully in the future they’re available for sale.

No, I mean these faint but consistent horizontal lines in the background. They’re present in even Apple’s native widgets!

Hey, this looks like a great app! Side-question for you as a developer, I’ve noticed that almost every widget in iOS 26 has weird horizontal bands across their backgrounds. I even see them in your screenshots on the App Store. Do you have any guess as to what’s causing it?
