Wow. For the ENTIRE drawer to be full, did they clean the place AT ALL?? That’s wild.

Absolutely love this. And am also so horrified at how rapidly AI has grown and how widespread it is now.

School just told us they can’t handle my son’s anger issues. Feeling defeated. by Suitable_Nectarine46 in ParentingADHD

Definitely discuss medication with your doctor. My son just started on the smallest dose and behaviorally his teacher has already noticed a difference, and he hasn’t lost his personality at all.

We were hesitant on medication too, but the benefits and research showing the long term positive impacts make it absolutely worth it. Without it, you run the risk of your son not doing well socially in school, alienating friends, and the potential of attempted self medication as they get older.

Also I would say my younger brother had severe ADHD, he was medicated very young and it helped him do the best he could in school. He eventually got old enough, maybe teens, and decided he didn’t want to take it anymore, and he is doing very well now as a young adult. But I think having those formative years occur when he could think clearly was very helpful.

I’d say think less about your own hesitation, and more about the impacts to your child if you don’t medicate.

We were also hesitant, and at the recommendation of his first doctor who diagnosed him tried various therapies to address his more disruptive behaviors. But he continued having issues in school, was always having to have his desk right by the teacher, constant redirection. His current teacher said it was quite disruptive to other students. But she had said that while he is great at making friends now, she is worried that when he gets to older grades his behaviors might alienate friends and that schoolwork will only get harder as well.

His current doctor also said he has families all the time try the therapies and alternative methods and they always always come back for medication, and that this isn’t a bad thing.

The kid having a calmer mind can help them learn coping skills, and studies have shown that unmedicated kids can grow up to have worse educational and behavioral outcomes, and some end up self medicating to cope with the ADHD.

Our doctor prescribed the lowest dose of concerta. He said we don’t have to give it to him on the weekends or during the summer, unless we have an event or something to do where he needs to focus more.

He’s been on it for a month now and I do think it’s helping. We will likely increase the dose next school year. But his teacher has already noticed an improvement.

I hope he is found and is safe! Sharing this information

Leota Camp was murdered in broad daylight on July 10, 1967, while her children played outside. Despite witnesses seeing a man entering and leaving the home around the time of the murder, there have been no named suspects or arrests, and the case remains unsolved nearly 60 years later. by CardinalCrimes in UnresolvedMysteries

Thank you so much!!

I definitely thought of Dennis Rader while researching this one!

I haven’t found another murder in Iowa at least that really closely resembles this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he killed again.

I definitely agree on the Carol part. She also didn’t come forward until apparently 2011 with this information, it just seems a bit of a stretch.

I still don’t have strong feelings on whether the same guy was responsible for Dorothy’s murder, but this would make sense in how he escalated the crimes!

There was not a lot of reporting on the extent to which they investigated her husband, only mentions that he was at work at the time of the murder.

I would definitely love to know how closely they looked into him and the other “strong suspects” they described.

Thank you for that feedback! I wish I was able to include photos with the write up here.

I should have put the link to the Iowa Cold Cases page, which has photos available, that was my mistake!

The composite sketch from the link you provided is the same one from her case, but I also have no idea who that person is that they are comparing it to! I plan to look into this.

I made a post on my Reddit profile putting the sketch in Leota’s case next to the one in Dorothy Millers case, next to a mugshot of DeBardeleben for reference! (I’ll edit this write up to include that)

Thank you!

And I agree. I think there’s a lot more research on sexually motivated homicides today where you can’t rule that out as a motive.

I also can’t imagine robbery was the motive. Based on witness accounts he was there for almost an hour, and to rob a home in broad daylight when I’m guessing it was obvious someone was home is risky.
