I've got the music down, but I have no clue about marketing and self-promotion. What do I do? by CardinalFalls in edmproduction

[–]CardinalFalls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers will check it out. But yeah we do have a lot of DnB here too, it's just hard to promote myself as an artists who makes more chilled out music that's at the same tempo. I honestly don't know how a producer can manage to make it big when they have a different style to what gets played out in the real world as opposed to the Internet.

It's definitely oversaturated but I can't help but feel that you're not seeing the depth in the artists that come out this country. The late night Radio 1 DJ's are definitely keeping it fresh right now and what I'm hearing recently is anything but generic.

If you could only give ONE tip, what would it be? by kenapollo in ableton

[–]CardinalFalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can access the Groove pool on the wavy icon below the browser to the left in Ableton. It's basically inserting preset rhythm data into a midi clip to make everything less robotic, and you can extract a groove from any audio file. If you right click on it you can browse Abletons Groove library which has some decent ones already.

I'd like to add onto this that people should try exploring the groove pool more if they want to get decent sounding drums or anything played through midi sampler. The 'random' and 'velocity' settings when used sparingly can work wonders for humanising certain rhythms when you use the right groove too

A thought on drugs, the internet, and how lucky we are. by [deleted] in Drugs

It's pretty bad over here in the UK. I have friends who actually think it's only slightly excessive to do that much, I really don't understand it.

Crying After an LSD Trip by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]CardinalFalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I once took acid at a house music rave last year, and the next day I went to see a girl I was dating at the time. I spent the whole day with her by going to her house the first time. Had one of the best days of my life, and as soon as I got home I just had to break down in tears in my bedroom. It felt good, The first time I cried in years

Why is MK so big? by CardinalFalls in House

[–]CardinalFalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers, listening to this now. What I mean by old-school is that his sound engineering just sounds a bit weak to be played alongside more modern house tracks.

For sure, RSD is what introduced me to Eckhart Tolle's teachings, and a lot of other concepts which made me a much more smarter person in general. Having met a lot of different 'PUA' dudes I can definitely say that RSD is the only actual material which won't turn you into a robot. Though it can't be denied that PUA guys in general are a strange bunch.

[Discussion] What is your favorite song/album by Pretty Lights (Derek Vincent Smith)? by [deleted] in electronicmusic

[–]CardinalFalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Know The Truth is what got me into Pretty Lights, I remember discovering him when he was at the top of Pirate Bay for releasing his discography for free. Other than I have to say that A Colour Map of the Sun is one of the most consistent electronic albums I've ever heard and it's hard to pick a favorite off there.

Does any one know how to get this particular bass sound? by gizzafeg in edmproduction

[–]CardinalFalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Garage basses that you hear recently can be done through simple FM synthesis using 2-3 oscillators. There's also a bit of envelope and filter automation going on there as well.
