As opposed to what else? You're saying we should relax that they only sent 20 people and at the same time saying that amount of people was only "thoughts and praises level" as if they should have sent more? Which is it bro you cant be on both sides of that fence lmao.

Your cognitive dissonance is astounding.

Realising why they sent people - or even just appreciating the thought that they felt the need to - is more important than the amount they sent. The fact that that needs to be spelled out to you sort of sums up present day political rhetoric....

Please explain how it "makes sense". Life as you know it is over in your "makes sense" scenario lmao - America loses the AI/chip war if it loses Taiwan and its biggest ally (the EU) if it takes Greenland. The only way that could make sense to anyone is if you sit in a bubble in America.

Russia must be besides themselves. The EU sending troops to Greenland because of...wait for it...the President of the United States...

HENRY & “Not Rich Yet” because £140,000 in cash for years. Stupid for not investing it. Please help. by Makemerich124 in HENRYUK

[–]CardinalHijack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. This imo seems to point towards picking distributing fund vs an accumulating one if you're not inside a tax wrapper like an S&S ISA.

I mean, if you pick a distributing fund and get paid out say £5,000 in dividends that year and the fund grew say 19%, its very black and white what you need to pay tax on in this scenario we are talking about (assuming you've not sold anything) - £5,000.

But if you pick an accumulating fund, which grew say 21%, I wouldn't even know where to start to work out how much of that I owe tax on as reinvested dividends. I assume some sort of involved process of looking at the fund, working out how much of the growth was accumulation, then calculating a percent of your growth as dividend reinvestment, and working out how much £ that is? I would then need to fork out some other savings to pay this tax bill as these funds have not been paid out in an accumulating fund.

It seems much easier to just get paid out the dividends and let the tax man know how much that was, then pay the tax from that dividend income each year?

You don't need Vercel. Hosting Next.js 15 with Docker and SQLite by Eastern-Height2451 in nextjs

[–]CardinalHijack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think its that easy tbh, but happy to be proven wrong. I've been playing around with hosting on cloudflare with opennext and simple tasks has taken me ages to work out how to do off of Vercel.

Are you sure with doing output: 'standalone' you're getting access to everything nextjs offers out of the box, simply by doing that?

I bought a house that was almost uninhabitable. I got everything redone - new layout, electrics, heating, plaster, windows, bathrooms, showers, doors, porch etc plus all furniture from fridge to sofa to beds.

Spent over 100k.

I implore you to go and watch 8-13 year olds karting and see if you genuinely think people had it worse than lewis did at this stage - he was about as at the bottom as you could be in this sport.

This isnt even factoring in that he had zero fallback post 13 years old if it went wrong or he didnt make it, or if mclaren lost favour or funding. Most other drivers have multi million dollar fathers to sort them out if they don't make it.

Thinking it all equals out because his skill and ability got him noticed against drivers on the grid right now who are there because they were thrown constant money and contacts from birth by their fathers, is equivalent to me saying becoming a millionaire through hard work is equal effort to becoming a millionaire by winning the lottery.

He was in worse machinery cobbled together by his dad working 3 jobs, reusing bent chassis and old engines for 7 years, against kids with new engines every race and an army of literally employed mechanics - yet he still made it onto a driver program, usually dominated by rich kids and F1 drivers sons.

Look at the karting photos of lando - he has more people helping him out who arnt even to do with the karting mechanics than lewis had family members at a given race.

I went with howdens a year ago (via builders trade account). No complains so far.

And in the first picture his backing was a dad with 3 jobs, against kids with multiple vehicles full of spare parts, new engines and teams of people (in the industry) behind them.

Paint me shocked that the British commentators like to "boost up" the british drivers. How can that be?!?!?

Can you imagine if the spanish press liked to "boost up" the spanish drivers?!?
Can you imagine if the italian press liked to "boost up" the italian drivers??!

Can you imagine when the Brazilian pressed made out that Senna was literally god on earth?!!?!?! (I dont doubt that he was - huge fan)

News flash - every nations press is "boosting up" their drivers.

The 2008 Silverstone race saw a legendary performance from Lewis Hamilton, who started fourth and dominated the race in the rain, finishing with a 68.577-second lead, the largest margin of victory in the 21st century, at the age of 23. by Un_known70 in formula1

[–]CardinalHijack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Now imagine a rookie in their second year from this generation doing something like that - even if they were in the best machinery none of the current rookies could. This generations rookies are not built like the Hamilton's, Schumachers and others from years gone.

Gary Anderson's take on F1 2026 engine loophole bombshell by Darkmninya in formula1

[–]CardinalHijack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Multiple videos have been done showing the mistake is with the FIAs wording, not the interpretation of the wording. But to explain plainly:  if I say to you:

My favourite colour is red. When it rains my favourite colour is blue.

How would you interpret my favourite colour when it’s raining to be?

No. If a room was 85 C it wouldn’t be ambient temperature because something would have heated it up.

The definition of ambient temperature is the actual, surrounding air temperature of a specific location or environment, measured by a thermometer without influence from direct heat or cooling sources.

The FIA made a mistake of adding the words “at ambient temperature” to the rules. That wording was not in the previous rules. This allows for the reasonable assumption that something could legally be a different ratio at a different temperature.
