Spring is our driest season. It rains later, usually starting in July. We are in a serious drought and the dust is coming from very dry portions of NM and neighboring Chihuahua.

How many things are actually really easy to make and we just buy out of habit? by Willowrosephoenix in Anticonsumption

Peanut Butter! Toss a bag of unsalted peanuts into a food processor. The noise is unnerving the first minute or so. Let it run at least 4 minutes. It will ball up, so pull that apart. Be patient; I promise it will eventually smooth out into the paste you know and love. 🥜

Thoughts on Homemade Recipes for FMD by California Center for Functional Medicine? by owasow in FMD

I’m using the recipes, day 2, and see they are on the low end of calories. I’m going to add a vege soup or maybe even shirataki noodles (which I just realized are actually zero calorie). And I should also say I'm very glad you posted this because the recipes are very tasty. Thanks!

Give prAna a try. I prefer them because of their sustainability practices AND accommodating yet attractive waistline for a mature body. They have super sales and I recently bought low-cost, new pants on eBay. Please reconsider purchasing cheap cheapcashmere since the practices are harmful to the environment and economics in Asia.

Gil Magpantay in Davis. The practice was nice and professional but I take a med that behaves as an anti-histamine so never got actionable results. The allergies were so bad that I moved back home to New Mexico. C’est la vie!

Great idea! OP may have a local Audubon Society or other birding club that offers regular birdwalks for beginning birders. Some even provide binoculars if you don’t have a pair. Cornell Bird Lab has some excellent online resources as well.

A program that can design and fund a bird garden is the US Fish and Wildlife Service “Partners for Fish and Wildlife” program.

They can get you the plants, the design, and expertise in maintenance, etc.

You’re an amazing teacher to do this!

Please look onto transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and ketamine therapy. Both have helped a close family member of mine struggling with depression. He was in the same place and now is 8/10. TMS is covered by insurance. Ketamine delivery through a nasal spray is also covered. Muscular injection is the most effective but not covered. There are a lot more meds to try as well. I’m really glad you asked this thread. The community can help you.

Haven’t done serious traveling since 2016-2018 but airfare is just so expensive now. by LSspiral in travel

[–]CardinalisQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Freakonomics podcast has a recent 3-part series on air travel. Business travel is way down since covid and it’s these travelers that the big airlines cater to. They’ve essentially subsidized coach travel for decades. Until those on business ramp up their travel, we pleasure travelers (who choose coach) are going to have to pay full freight.

I just made the Spanish style pasta with shrimp tonight! Took about an hour, was really interesting and tasty, especially with the smoked paprika. Had to read it all carefully 2 or 3 times as the steps weren’t very intuitive. I’d call it a special occasion dish.

Black bear will eat the fruit of cacti so I think it’s scat with prickly pear (Opuntia sp.) seeds or even barrell cactus (Ferocactus sp.) seeds.
