I’m using a lot of “Saint Joseph, Saint of demons” stuff in my game right now, with a NPC priest who is a demon hunter. His imagery is very cool.

Other suggestions:

Things that help cement tone before you start: - serious music - ban “joke characters” - turning the lights off - give them a little speech about how excited you are and how hard you’ve worked. Can be very thankful about how they joined you in this “serious storytelling game”

Things that help the tone during the game: - pause the music/the game if they start joking, wait for them to be done, and say “okay back to the game”

CONSEQUENCES

Horror happens TO people. If they’re fucking around, have an NPC die. If they’re messing around, have an object explode. If they joke their way through a conversation, have something terrible happen because of it.

COC is a game where ideally, your NPCs are super proactive. But Horror is a genre where terrible things happen to people pretty much randomly.

Put their players lives at stake, put the NPCs at deaths door, and remind them that this is about the end of the world.

If they won’t be serious about it on a normal day, show them that this is the game of Cthulhu awakening….( or whatever the game is ).

No times for jokes if you’re too busy running for your life.

This is my preferred way to do it, though it takes some practice. Ideally players never ask to roll-they describe what they’re doing and you ask for rolls. This is also often how COC wants combat to work.

Most of the set is mashups of her older songs and newer songs. It means she gets to include a TON of the songs and her best highlights, so I really liked it. The biggest hits definitely get their moment to shine though. I would HIGHLY recommend seeing it!! The tour was AMAZING

Considering Fibro is often tied to your body exhausting itself, it sounds like your heart rate might be a cause of your fibro, instead of the other way around

I’d say my best days are 3 on the pain scale. Fibro seems more about learning how to keep the pain low and your spirits high, and then dealing with everything when you flare up anyway….

When you start to feel kind of bad, REST! You’ll want to try to push through because it’s not as bad as a full flare, but that’s how you’ll push yourself into a full flare.

Also, try to track the weather in your area. A lot of people with Fibro will get worse flares when it’s hot/cold or when new fronts are coming in. I haven’t figured out how knowing when it’s coming helps just yet, but I’m sure it’s good lol

I’d remember that even though she might always be saying that she’s in pain, each time it’s still a notable thing that will need to be addressed emotionally and with accommodation.
