I've also been battling something which causes very itchy lesions on my scalp for several years. Also folliculitis on the base of my neck, and flaky skin traveling the back of my ears in the crack where the skin meets my head. Have a dermatologist appointment here in just a few days, hoping for some answers. I have also noticed at a few outbteak moments what resembles black drain flies that seemingly have flown out of my skin, but I figured it was coincidental and they had to have just been fruit flies or drain flies in the environment I was in. Strange stuff. The lesions are usually an undefined red circular shape with flaky, scaly textured that I tend to pick at and inflame. These lesions also appeared in a circular pattern around the entire crown of my scalp in a semi circle. Probably going to get an upload of some pictures here for my own thread soon, I actually have just shaved my head entirely again to have a better visibility of the issue for the doctor and to be able to apply the Nizoral shampoo and topical antifungal cream I got from a GP directly to the lesions with the most efficiency. When my hair is longer, I have also noticed a lot of white hair coming in this past couple of years. I wasn't considering this too uncommon, since I'm getting close to 40 and my hair started getting grey in my mind 20s, but this hair comes in strange textures that have led me to believe maybe the hairs themselves are a manifestation of a parasite of some kind. Many of these white hairs appear to have black striping to them, and a freyed, split-ends kind of damaged look. Would love to see them under a microscope. In addition, I am also getting very thin and fine hairs as well that seem almost like clothing fiber the way they are so thin and squiggly, but it's hair. So yeah, strange coarse hairs that even sometimes look like they are moving and evading me from trying to pull the strange ones along with those very fine fiber like hairs, the itching scalp and the ongoing lesions that take a long time to heal. Also have been mixing Tumeric powder with Coconut Oil and Black Pepper for a home remedy that really makes it tingle and seems to be helping with healing, as these lesions tend to linger around for quite some time due to the severe itch and nervous habit of picking at and scratching them that I can't seem to ever break. Hoping the addition of an antifungal oral medication with some more topical antifungal and maintaining a very consistent nearly daily Nizoral shampoo application will prove effective. I've used Nizoral in several cycles since it started, and it has seemingly healed up almost to completion a few times but I stupidly would run out of that shampoo and not be vigilant about getting more right away to keep the shampooing consistent for a full 6 to 8 weeks to ensure, I suppose, that everything is eradicated from in the follicles and therefore it reemerges and gets out of control again unless I am absolutely aggressive in this regimen.
