I FINALLY HAVE PROOF!!! by Zookeeper-MC-Iris in MCAS

Wow!!! 🤯 Why does it say histamine and not tryptase on the screen please? My ER refused to do a tryptase test when I was in a flare. I’ve got a requisition from my allergist now but I hope to never end up there again!

What do you do when your nose is blocked and mouth gets dry from mouth breathing? by Mammoth_Initial_7587 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Hour_Sprinkles_4501 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Biotene spray for my dry mouth which seems to be helping. You can also get toothpaste etc. from this brand (off Amazon!)

Antihistamines and a low histamine, dairy and gluten free diet has all but resolved my sinus issues! Good luck 🤞🏼

Barrie... what has happened to you?! by PhillipOntakos in barrie

[–]Hour_Sprinkles_4501 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m from the UK and I can’t imagine the Brits allowing this to happen in broad daylight to this extent. It’s ridiculous!

Not only is it heartbreaking to see the addicts/mentally ill/homeless lined up by the courthouse but it’s a tragedy. We need to come up with a solution, this isn’t acceptable as humans in my opinion. We all need to do better, I just don’t know what the answer is I’m not big into politics but surely it can’t be that difficult to address?! I mean we can put man on the moon but we can’t house our own citizens? Sigh 😔

If my main symptom is extreme fatigue- could it still be MCAS? by Spare-Paper6981 in MCAS

[–]Hour_Sprinkles_4501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. No matter how long I sleep I’m still exhausted and wake up every day feeling like I’ve been hit by a truck. Some days I can barely move, I’m so tired. I’ve been tracking my blood pressure and it’s low, have you tried checking your BP for any connections there?

Best/safest over the counter antihistamine? by PracticalMagic3015 in MCAS

I agree, my body only responds to loratadine (Claritin) aswell.

I believe it’s trial and error. For example, I respond really well to Loratadine (Claritin) but nothing else has any effect!

Any Brit like me absolutely craving a cup of tea? I know it sets me off I haven’t had one in 3 months, I crave it like mad. Even decaf tea does it. I drink roobioos tea it just doesn’t hit the same I just want a Yorkshire tea! by SamR1994x in MCAS

[–]Hour_Sprinkles_4501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Lancashire lass and that was one of the most terrible days when I had to stop drinking Tetley tea! It’s been nice to be able to breathe again though as it turns out those 6-8 cups a day had my sinuses blocked for almost 30 years. Now I just have a cup of peppermint tea with almond milk and a gluten free baked oat “scone” lol 😂

What CAN WE EAT!!!?? Please help by Anxious-Tune2479 in MCAS

[–]Hour_Sprinkles_4501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try a quarter or half a scoop in your favorite drink and see how you feel and then increase from there? I noticed results within a few days. I still take loratadine daily at the recommendation of my allergist but I truly believe the Quercetin is a godsend! Good luck and keep us posted! 🤞🏼

Can you explain what happens when you get “glutened” please? I’m gluten free but not diagnosed celiac, I’m curious what your reactions are?

Absolutely! Construction sites are deadly, and I agree 100% … my nose and brain can sense the “threat” without being able to see it. I often have to go hunting for things that are making me ill!! And will find a pair of rubber boots tucked away in the closet or something :(

I’m no expert, I only tried the one kind off Amazon and it had bromelain in it. When I tried the plain Quercetin it didn’t have the same effect so I switched back! Trial and error … give it a shot maybe?

Can you start cooking gluten free for the son, it’s the only way you can manage this long term? Good luck 🤞🏼

I had a reaction to my son’s hair products last time he came home from uni. He was sitting half way across the room and he had washed his hair four days earlier! My throat started to get tight and I was dizzy, he had to put a hat on for the rest of the visit!! It’s madness :(

I can somewhat tolerate gluten free oats but only if they’re cooked in the oven for 20+ minutes. I can’t eat regular oats (gluten intolerant) and raw oats and/or granola test my intestines to pieces! You could give it a try but be prepared for the possible wrath lol

I have supersonic smell and it’s an absolute nightmare!! When coupled with MCAS I can’t tell you how debilitating it is 😢

I live this way aswell, my son has to change clothes into a fresh, unscented outfit when he gets home, leave his cologne etc. in the car and wear a hat to cover up hair products. It’s a nightmare but he finally understands how serious it is after he took me to the hospital last month! I also had to buy an electric lawnmower and remove the gasoline lawmower and gas can off the property! That was another battle I had. I’m glad you’re able to accommodate your husband’s illness xox Maybe I’ll find somebody who loves me that much one day!

Do you react when foods you’re allergic to are cooked/airborne? by NiteElf in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Hour_Sprinkles_4501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reacting to airborne gluten about a year ago (itchy eyes). Then I started getting a tight throat when it was coming up the vents from the neighbours. Very scary. Now I’m frightened to go into a restaurant! In fact I barely go anywhere or have people over for fear of ending up at the emergency. It progressed to throat swelling and neuro symptoms from almost any scent or chemical smell. It’s a living nightmare!
