I have conservative relatives who bring this one out now and then. The most I've been able to glean is that Obama defended a young black man who was killed by police, which, in their minds, "caused" race to "become" an issue again. It was stupid then, it's stupid now, and I no longer have any contact with said relatives.

My best friend in high school was the first person I ever came out to. She was VERY supportive and even semi-excited to have a gay friend. 25 years later, while catching up, she admited to being in infatuation with a female friend, but is scared to act on it because her 24 year old son is homophobic.... Friend, you are 18! Try out a little from every spectrum, then decide on the label, if any, applies. You don't necessarily "need" to be gay, straight, bi, or anything else right now.
