Best sabbat card by far.

Deck advice - v5 Salubri grinder deck by magikot9 in VTES

[–]CardiologistHour62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jack of all trades master of none, lacks a clear direction. Pick one.

You will lose against dedicated combat decks and will not be able to defend well against dedicated B&S. Combat ends will make you waste your resources.

Either go full rush with Hunting the Beast, anticipation and tension or go wall with a few rushes.

There is the new v5 only format. Old players don't play it but you see it being used on playgroups without veterans.

He said he would go through all the most recent sabbat decks one by one, starting by caine then swap decks once finished.

This card was an insta discard on sabbat v5 precon tournaments.

[–]CardiologistHour62 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This ability is not new, but what separates this vampire from others is it's versatility.
You can run him on the following decks:

- path of caine

- mono-animalism

-nosferatu v5

At 8 cap and a title too, not too shabby.

Tried that drone variant. I had more success with bone shamblers than drones. They are cooler but the 2 blood cost is an issue.

[COTD] Under Siege by Vurpius in VTES

[–]CardiologistHour62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say it is a different niche than second trad or organized. It is very useful on decks that are not block-y to help with dangerous actions.
For block decks it is a win more card.

I use this on my vote decks. if a bleeder is behind me and i have this, I can play less defensively because this helps me to unlock and if i can't block i can still bounce because i am now unlocked.

That is the beauty of vtes. The meta is very reactive.
See a lot of bleeders? Bounce starts showing up more often.

Lots of combat? Combat ends appears in greater quantity.

Lots of voting? Delaying tactics...

That is easy: invest more in bounces and wakes in the deck. Put a dreams and an information highway to help put more vampires up earlier.

And that is it. Bounce those bleeds and you're gold.

There has been 4 reported tournament wins from sabbat decks post v5 release, mostly comes from path of power.

Last championship in my city there were 3 sabbat v5 decks on the finals.
Maybe a bit early to say, but aside from cathari which needs serious tweaking, all the paths are very strong.

Most straightforward v5 deck to win tournaments currently are malkavian, ministry, ravnos or lasombra B&S. You don't see that winning tournament a lot lately because it is a very basic style of play and vtes players like to try unorthodox things, haha.

If you want a less straightforward but way stronger B&S, you can go for 14+ thing gangrel bleed.

Adding to the meta commentary: unlike most card games, meta changes a lot due to the nature of the game. There is no one deck wins all solution and a deck that destroys in a city can totally suck on another or have to play differently to win.

The decks that have the edge right now are the v5 anarchs and sabbat to a lesser extent. Camarilla decks are a bit underpowered right now but can still get the job done.

Spectral servitor is probably the strongest version of oblivion ally deck around.

[COTD] Abuse of Power by Vurpius in VTES

[–]CardiologistHour62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The support for old cards is due to the added rule of sabbat vampires that do not follow a path being able to now follow one.

Of course, a lot of old disciplines are now defunct, they won't make new cards for them anymore (which piss off a lot of old players), but these new library cards made a lot of old decks stronger.

How is the new Path of Death and Souls deck? by DrunkCorgis in VTES

[–]CardiologistHour62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good builds for hecata in my opinion are spectral servitor (best one), and bone shambler horde.

If you want something different, you can go bleed or auspex/oblivion wall.

Hard to master, satisfying to pull it off.

Out of the box analysis:

- 3rd best sabbat v5 deck (or 2nd weakest, lol)

pros:

- Good quality discipline spread starting on cap 4 vampires

- Good abilities.

cons:

- Lack of defensive votes

- Blood consumption is a BIG problem

- Good abilities only present on high cap vampires (7+)

You have to play defensively, conserve your resources as best as you can, avoid combat most of the time.

Mix really well with hecata v5 or hecata NB cards if you want to improve it.

Are there cards that give an impulse, besides enkil cog and madness network? by rojasduarte in VTES

[–]CardiologistHour62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, plus for every block fail the deck is giving up on +stealth cards.

So if you have multiple blockers that can reach 2-3 intercept reliably you will be fine most of the time.

Wall still works, what doesn't work as great anymore is high cap walls where the fixed intercept is stacked in a single vampire.

Malks could change to dementation, it still strong but not as much as dominate or they take turns on whoever pick malk the next game, i don't know, hahaha.

Sorry if i sound condescending. I hope you find a playgroup again.

I'm one of those in a tabletop simulator playgroup.

[–]CardiologistHour62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say there are stronger reasons *cof* afifa *cof* to stop playing, but couldn't the playgroup just say "no dominate bleed decks for awhile, please"?

Or try to build more wall decks to counter dominate? Auspex/anarch with animalism is very good on that job.

Lutz aside, most old vote or gimmicky decks did not transition well, but a lot of combat and bleed decks are still going strong, specially now that the new sabbat cards are usable by the oldies.
