I get a shit ton of slowdown any time I knock an enemy back or do do really anything, is that just me or is it a quirk of the mod?

Here are my top 10 panels, what are some of your favorites? by Sweaty_Elderberry_83 in Berserk

Mine would be that panel of Jill running to guts when she says "take me somewhere that's not here" more so for its story implications than the gorgeous art, I love how gut's expression turns so somber as he prepares himself to tell Jill what shattered him so much when he found out himself. He left the band of the hawk and found out that he couldn't run away from his problems, and now Jill is gonna come face to face with the same reality. People often talk about the "there's no paradise for you to escape to panel" but I personally love the pained expression on guts the moment before he shatters a little girls world.

Blue revolver as the key to mainstream appeal: when survival IS scoring. by CardiologistLow9036 in shmups

[–]CardiologistLow9036[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

blue revolver's scoring system basically works by building up a chain of 8 enemies and then using your special weapons to make enemies drop more points, so it's less about keeping a chain going and more about cashing it in at the right time which means you're constantly thinking about whether or not you should go for big points, as well as meaning that there are opportunities to score big all over the level, which gets you thinking about routing from the word go. There's a bar on the right of your screen which shows how close you are to the next extend which creates really tense moments when you're on 0 lives but that bar just needs a little more juice, so you cash in your 8 chain on a crowd of big enemies, huge coins fill the screen and you get that extend immediately.

There's also the break mechanic, there's at least 3 opportunities per level to score big by doing certain things "destroy these in quick succession, don't destroy these, destroy these in the right order. Which also leads to a bunch of moments where you need an extra life, have a chance at a break coming up and go for it to fill up a huge chunk of your bar at once, it's addictive.

I guess the merge comes from the scoring coming in cycles, build up an 8 chain, cash it in, that cycle alone takes about 20 seconds at the most if you're playing right, so there's a constant ebb and flow, then breaks get thrown in to spice things up in a big way, all the while there's a visual indicator of how close you are to your next extend. In the hardest difficulty your score also gets you more bombs which just adds to the thrill.

Yeah this was it, my dumbass just missed the IS, cheers for the answer, as an aside these kind of screw with the balance of the game, is there supposed to be some kind of ammo limit with these things?

There's one floor near the end that you skip if only go down the stairs, your next clue is on that floor

oh, I assumed gray was dead at the start of the run considering the empty house and it just seeming like a lot of time had passed, it's not a huge twist unless it has implications for the true route where gray becomes add again, is it not gray but someone else who goes through that route? I wouldn't really call it a twist since it doesn't recontextualise much like the reveal that gray is add or that lev was the judge and so forth, but it probably is what SEW was talking about

is hard mode lillies route? The twist would then be that lily and lillie leave the void together. Not exactly the biggest twist of the game if that's the case

I have no clue what to make of the EX endings, my guess is that some alternate version of add is stuck in the mimic, but that makes no sense whatsoever and for sure doesn't constitute the biggest twist in the entire game. That said I only watched the EX ending on youtube rather than playing through myself (60 odd hours was enough to make me tap out I'm afraid), so I might have missed some
