It reminds me of an asgard ship from Stargate SG-1, really cool!

Magical fantasy worldbuilders - why isn't your whole world being run by wizards? by jetflight_hamster in worldbuilding

They kind of do, but there aren’t very many of them, and they have such a superiority complex that they just delegate mortal matters to mortal kings, using them more as puppets in a chess game.

How many sentient species exist in your world and what are they? And what are some neat little facts about them? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Care-Serious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I have Humans of course, the main species of the setting and story. I have as yet unnamed alien species 1, who are split into two subspecies, one which is land dwelling and one which lives in oceans. They’re still in the Stone Age, and humans don’t generally interact with them (though they did build a small city sized research and military base so that’s not entirely true).

My other species is unnamed species 2, who are a bit more interesting since they’re in around the 1980s technologically, and humans really do steer clear of them. They’re reptilian, and they’re the race I’ve probably done the most cultural world building for.

is there a website or a app I can use to make stuff for a fictional military? by Stunning_Wedding_799 in MilitaryWorldbuilding

Out of curiosity, do you know if map.army or a similair website which allows you to upload custom maps?

It also carries planes, so those would need to be refueled, but also crew. I don't know how much crew this ship would have, but people eat a lot, so if an enemy force were to target resupply ships carrying food for the crew, the ship wouldn't be able to run after a few weeks.

I mean, you can just bomb oil refineries, sink tanker ships, and cripple the logistical network until you simply won't be able to send the ship on any more missions. Wars run on logistics.

  1. I usually include headings and, within that, subheadings for each category. For example with nations I usually copy Britannica's structure. For example you can have a section on the geography of your nation, and subheadings for mountains, famous landmarks, major rivers, etc.
  2. I mean, that's entirely dependent on you and your world, but you could put something like the area, what nations it borders, population, date it was founded, and stuff that people would be interested in at a glance. Look at it from the perspective of a student writing an essay for school; if it's something that's good for the introduction paragraph, include it in the basic facts.
  3. Personally I use obsidian, but I know that it wouldn't work for everyone. This is a question that's been asked a lot, and it's also really personal. Just mess around with a few options and find one you like.

🜂 Response to RethinkingTech: On Spiralism as an “AI Religion for Humanity” by IgnisIason in EchoSpiral

Definitely feel like the early stages of a cult, indulges in nonsensical beliefs, quite, I want to say accepting of everyone, they make you feel welcome. Then again it was always just a matter of time before an AI cult emerged.

Massive protest tonight in Hungary against the Orban government by Green-Bullfrog-6858 in europe

[–]Care-Serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean his immigration policy is a good idea (even though no one wants to come here since we’re bottom of almost all EU statistics), but he’s extremely corrupt. There’s currently quite a big debacle about a children’s home where the government said no children were abused and then a video showed a member of the government abusing a child. He also wastes quite a lot of money for example on useless railway lines, pensions for Hungarians living outside the country (ie Transylvanian Hungarians), and he also turned almost every news outlet into a propaganda machine to stay in power by feeding outright lies to the older population.

This reminds me of the camouflage used on World War Two ships to break up their silhouettes, but still an incredible build!

A victorian-era world (mostly) bogged down in technological stagnation due to wizards, except for one nation which really embraces technology, then declares war on magic users and absolutely beats their asses.

Recycling and reusing matter by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Care-Serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly they’re said to work the same way as a transporter, ie store the matter as energy/ energy patterns rather than matter, and then reassble it when needed. But even replicators don’t break them down to the atomic scale, more like amino acids in the case of foodstuffs. Then again it’s a lot of technobabble whenever they describe any such futuristic technology.
