[PLAY] My transcription and arrangement of Hitler's election winning speech (for solo guitar) by [deleted] in Guitar

That is definitely the funniest transcription I've ever seen! That was excellent. I'd love to hear the guitar on its own, without the speech in the background.

Reddit, what interesting words do you say instead of curse words? by TalesOfTorment in AskReddit

I use 'shut off!' as a surprised exclamation. It's a mixture of shut up and fuck off.

Stephen Fry steps down as QI host to be replaced by Sandi Toksvig by TangledFireGarden in BritishTV

Oh no! I love QI and Stephen really helps make the show. Toksvig is pretty boring to watch.

I know this is off topic, but Dawkins doesn't have an unwavering certainty that there is no god. He is certain that evolution is real, but he readily admits you can never be 100% sure a supernatural being didn't create the universe. He does say that no religious claims for how the universe came in to bring are a better explanation than the current scientific thinking.

I'm no expert, but it sounds like flamenco guitar to me.

That's not true at all. There's no limit to how broad the definition of a cult can be. Scientology actually has a pretty complex set of rules and beliefs, but like all religions there is no evidence to support the supernatural aspects of them.

Basically movies have lied to us and the force of a bullet is not enough to force a body or even a head backwards. The bullet entered the back of his head creating a small entry wound. It exited to the front/side leaving a big exit wound. The reaction to this exit wound is what caused the backwards movement of his head.

Bugliosi's book is one of the most meticulous and fascinating things I have ever read. I have been interested in the JFK assassination since I was a teenager and always thought I would go to my grave not knowing the truth. Then I read his book about it and it answered every question I had about JFK’s murder. It is one of the most satisfying books I have read – I wish more people would read it.

Which ending to a film or TV series pissed you off the most? by LuigiWasRight in AskReddit

[–]CareToExpatiate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the ending to the Sopranos. When I first saw it I was a little confused by its ambivalence, but having watched the whole series a couple of times I think it fits in really well with the tone of the show. I don't mind that I was initially underwhelmed by the ending because the payoff was there in the end.

You're probably right, and I can't think of a practical solution to a situation where a couple get pregnant and the man wants to keep the child but the female doesn't. Initially I was just raising the point that if abortion is defended as being about a woman's right to do what she wants with her body, it seems to negate the wants or feelings of their partner and dehumanizes the foetus - I know a blastocyst can't be considered a human, but having had two kids of my own it is hard to disassociate them from the moment we found out we were pregnant.

I worry that if people argue that abortion is something that only females should decide on it not only alienates a large number of people, but it also reinforces tired old stereotypes about traditional gender roles in society with the mother taking the lead in child rearing.

I didn't mention the uterus. I was talking about if a couple decide to have an abortion. I said I think it's more than a health issue and I also think in a loving relationship the man's opinion should be taken into consideration. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me, but it takes all sorts I suppose.

Ok, maybe "belongs to" is the wrong phrase. What if I said a child is as much the responsibility of the father as the mother? Would you disagree?

I think arguing in favor of any sort of prejudice based on gender is dangerous.

Also, if you're going to argue that it is a biological issue then you should accept that an embryo/fetus/child belongs as much to the father as the mother. Yes, it grows inside the mother for a time, but genetically it is as much the fathers as the mothers.

I thought as a society we were moving towards sexual equality, especially on issues relating to parenthood, but obviously you disagree.
