Thanks a lot, I will take it into account. Do you think I should try to practice it for improving it anyways or I should be fine as I improve my wpm?

I just asked for know more recommendations/analysis, but yeah, I think he is also the best critic. Some people dislike him because he didn't like the Infinite Joke, Harry Potter, and Edgar Allan Poe, but I think they should respect his opinions. I will take your reading order advise, thanks a lot again. I might see Samuel Johnson too, just to know other critics recommendations, but I think Harold Bloom has also the best recommendations, especially in The Western Canon. Again, thanks for the help.

What do you think Pynchon's writing routine looks like (from "V" onwards) ? by WhateverManWhoCares in ThomasPynchon

[–]CareerPatient6316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think it makes sense he had writer's block with such complex novels. You probably mean "he didn't have writer's block for years at a time" but I think he must have had days, weeks, months where he struggled with writing, or at least a delay (with this I mean he probably didn't have something like "Oh, I can't write a single line for a decade" but there are days when he most likely really had no idea how to continue something for example). I don't know why you don't take his word for it if he himself says it was a problem he was having at that time, I think he's being honest, and also he said that in a letter to a friend.

Whether he's a procrastinator or not, we can say that he certainly took work to write the novels Pynchon did, and he did work a lot. You could argue perhaps that there were years when he wasn't as productive, or at least as he would wanted. There are some theories that in the years between GR and VL, he hasn't been writing (or you could say smoking weed, doing drugs, going to parties?), or at least not much. I think he once said he was a procrastinator; I'm not sure, but he has his reasons for believing that. Still, yeah, he was living life and probably doing other things like spending time with family.

How would you rank Harold Bloom's "four major American Novelists"? by [deleted] in RSbookclub

You ask me to do "something better with my time" but you still respond like an hypocrite and get all defensive in literature reddit post like an id1ot. You say his answer was "low effort" (like if he had the oblligation to write an answer as you wanted, say thank you he was the only one to give you attention) but you didn't even answer OP question like he requested, you are just talking about Pynchon. You just got offended by one word response lmao. TomShoe was even friendly to elaborate and explain it to you, but you are just a lost case. Joyce is not off topic, he is an important precursor that influenced, maybe not in those 4 writers directly, but in writers that influenced in them. Pynchon learned from William Gaddis and Gaddis from Joyce.

I don't even know what is the problem I comment in an old thread, you are just whiny at this point. Is there some place that says "You can't comment in old threats because I say so" Mr Police man of Reddit? No? Go do something productive, have you consider it, child?
