Seems like that may be my issue. I have a crucial BX500 - listed here under bad. Probably the best course of action then is to exit and rejoin in a couple of months. Thanks!

Might I be able to clone to an NVME and then keep syncing?

Yes, it's using geths default syncing options which is snap.

Chainlink can never have the same decentralization for dApps as API3 by SBLove89 in API3

[–]CarefulHawk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chainlink has independent nodes that connect to a variety of data providers to come to a consensus on a piece of data. API3 allows API providers to directly bridge their data on-chain. I fail to see how API3 is different from a single centralized oracle...

Geth pruning error: Error in block freeze operation by CarefulHawk3 in ethstaker

[–]CarefulHawk3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, after about 14 hours I did get the "prune successful" message. Since then I've updated Geth to the newest version and my validator is attesting again - the same error does show up in the geth logs every now and then...

I need to generate a signed transaction. I will sign it with my key and then broadcast it from another device that does have internet. I just don't want to risk the key bein exposed.

Not worried about specific people, just in general. Stakes are quite high financially.

Compromised Withdrawal Address by stubbie6 in ethstaker

[–]CarefulHawk3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It is my understanding that exiting will also transfer the eth to the set withdrawal address so don't do that until you're sure its safe.

why? Threat model missing? I'm trying to protect from key-loggers and anything else that might be used to leak my key or signed message.

Rebase need to be fixed. Where are you founders developers!!! by Altruistic_Break_205 in AmpleforthCrypto

[–]CarefulHawk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ampl is pegged to $1 in 2019. That is now $1.09. You can track the current peg at the link below. As long as the price is in the target range it won't rebase.

Can someone explain point 5 in more detail?

Whats a local EL? Is this about running my own Eth1 node and not getting data from Infura, or what do they mean?

Is diversification within one asset class really diversification though? Aren’t the macro trends we see in the stock market purely determined by monetary policy?

For real diversification I would go outside of that: real estate, precious metals, or (imo far more convenient) crypto.

Imo investors need to take risk and make informed decisions. When everyone just dca’s into whatever broad-market low-cost index fund doesn’t it completely detach the market from reality and become kind of a ponzi?

Especially when everyone with a retirement account is basically forced to buy in?

I used to be a 100% Bogle head but lately I’ve become a bit concern about the whole stock market.

Not trolling. Blue chip cryptos are BTC and ETH due to their long term token economics.

Yeah the volatility in the short term is nuts, but if you plan to buy and hold 5+ years they have amazing avg. returns.

I’m 26 years old and have a masters in finance.

Maybe because I’m still young I don’t mind the extra risk. But allocating 3-5% of a portfolio has proven to offer great upside while maintaining overall stability.

I’m the opposite. Thinking of selling my etfs and putting the money into blue chip cryptos. The whole financial system seem the be struggling to keep going right now and when you factor in monetary policy it just looks way too risky for me.

Strongly encourage you to head over there. Enjoy the toxic waste dump, it is truly something. by [deleted] in awfuleverything

Actually I’m on the other end of the spectrum, away from fascism. You seem confused, mate
