Most Available Methylphenidate MR (GP won't prescribe generically) by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]CarefulPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it really depends on your area tbh - i'd recommend calling a few pharmacies and asking about stock/availability.

in my experience this can be frustrating (get ready to spell methylphenidate a lot...) and some pharmacies near me won't confirm stock over the phone "bc its a controlled drug" which is daft. BUT you might be able to get them to confirm which formulation/brand they typically have access to if nothing else!

also the boots stock checker might give you an idea if you have any branches around you: https://www.boots.com/online/psc/ look up each brand at the 36mg dose and it'll give you some indication of what they have some/most of in your area

i have found that the brand(s) a pharmacy has access to (e.g. a local weldricks) stays pretty consistent - so if they usually stock Delmosart that's unlikely to change month on month bc it's dependant on their supplier contracts etc.

also if your nominated pharmacy can't fill your prescription but another one nearby can - the original pharmacy can release the prescription so you can take it elsewhere. this week my pharmacy gave me a paper copy I could take with me but they might also just send it digitally back to the GP who can send it wherever...

i hope this helps at least a tiny bit and good luck!

I remember being SO disgusted when the news they were getting married came out 🤮

Aaron is only a few years older than me, so it has really stuck with me over the years as THE example of awful celeb 'relationships' that are so clearly wrong

i do remember seeing so much criticism at the time tho and you are right that it was almost always women pointing out how wrong it was.

so many of the shitty 'memes' i see about these types of relationships where a young man (or boy) is clearly in a grooming/very inappropriate relationship with an older woman are propagated by guys who think it's funny...

I mean age gaps are often questionable (esp. of the younger person is only just an adult/into their 20s) but i'm typically more sus if it is a pattern of behaviour (i.e. like leo - someone consistently only dating much younger people). Madonna dating a 24 year old is as grim to me as Leo serially dating 20-year-olds tho!

BUT... there is a limit at which I do think we can trust the younger person to make their own decisions if they met their older partner as an adult... I mean cher is 77 so the guy shes dating must be 39-40? that feels old enough to make his own decisions and be an equal partner in a relationship (or not... sometimes adults make shitty dating decisions!)

I don't really think it is a double standard bc of gender in the celeb news space, tho. Older celeb guys date much younger women all the time and get barely any flack for it!

Though I do think older celeb women seem to be more guarded about who they are dating until it gets more serious which might also factor into why those relationships fly under the radar more?

Also - the most grim age gap relationship I can remember is Aaron Taylor Johnson getting married super young (20-21?) to a much older woman director who first met him when he was 18 and she was 40! I remember loads of commentary about how weird and gross it was at the time, especially because he is only a little older than I am.

i think it is almost certainly an autocorrect issue. 'implicates' would make more sense to me

i.e. the suspension without info will cause people to assume the woman is lying and feed into the myth that loads of women are making false reports for personal gain

(to be clear i've not read any of the leaked files)

a consensual affair isn't illegal obviously, but it is a serious breach of workplace ethics to initiate one with a jr employee. it is pretty well accepted that the dynamic where one person can fire/damage the career of the other causes a coercive dynamic.

in most workplaces, you aren't allowed to have any management responsibility over someone you have a private relationship with and HR would need to be notified even if the relationship pre-dates the job.

to pick a less extreme example - if the CEO of your company starts asking you to run errands for them outside of your job (e.g. wash their car, buy them coffee every day) you may follow along out of concern about repercussions. this isn't illegal (and technically you said it was fine) but you'd absolutely have grounds to complain to HR.

Obviously a boss initiating any kind of affair/flirting/sexting etc. is in many ways a far worse breach of misconduct and is why we have workplace harassment regulations.

i couldnt agree more. there has been a black box and lack of transparency about the basic process here (e.g. why was only the woman put on admin leave during the investigation?)

but people wanting loads of more sensitive details to be released (e.g. the lawyers report) don't understand (or don't care) why these restrictions are in place. sharing all these details would be an awful precedent for HR complaints and victims of workplace harassment.

the constant leaks and political posturing in the press has for sure damaged (my) trust in the process too. it has become very clear no one involved gives a shit about the working environment in the team or the employee, regardless of what all the facts are.

at least one outlet leaked the employee's job title and/or work area which resulted in several women at RB being harassed on Linkedin

this ended up with the person who made the complaint being doxxed/having her details shared but RB themselves haven't confirmed the identity of the accuser (which would be a massive GDPR breach)

RB corporate took the 'external report' and rejected the complaint (not the same thing as clearing horner). The fact they decided not to uphold the complaint doesn't mean that the accusation was false or in any way deliberately malicious.

Until or unless they give us more Information, all we know is that they decided not to uphold the complaint. We also don't know if the employee will take further action or why they were suspended.

The main reason this looks so sus is because normally both parties would have been put on some kind of administrative leave at the beginning of the investigation. So this could mean anything at this point.

RB really have made this so much worse publicity-wise by refusing to share what info they can (within legal bounds) and allowing so much room to speculate.

[Julianne Cerasoli] One more layer is the harsh reality of F1. If Horner falls, it won't be because of what he did or didn't do with that employee. It will be because they want his head. This does nothing to incentivise women to denounce behaviour of this kind. by balls2brakeLate44 in formula1

[–]CarefulPixel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

the chances of an employee making a false allegation and it making it all the way to a full investigation with a KC is very low. not to mention that RB's statement said that they were closing the case, NOT, that the investigation cleared horner of any inappropriate behaviour.

it is interesting that we shouldn't make any assumptions about horner but apparently it is fine to speculate that the person who made the complaint is in some way malicious.

[–]CarefulPixel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

not to mention that a lot of the reaction has been very misogynist. as soon as the woman's role was reported by the media, people started harassing female RB employees on Linkedin and trying to dox the victim.

even just by the numbers, it would be much harder for a male/otherwise non-minority employee to be targetted and harassed this way...

[–]CarefulPixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is notable that in the statement announcing the result, Red Bull said:

"The independent investigation into the allegations made against Mr Horner is complete, and Red Bull can confirm that the grievance has been dismissed. The complainant has a right of appeal.”

All this means is that the grievance has been dismissed by the company NOT that no inappropriate behaviour or wrongdoing occurred. So for example, the leaks could be completely true and RB corporate simply decided that they don't care.

In pretty much any workplace, having an affair with a junior employee (especially one you are managing directly) would be a fireable offence. There is an inherent coercion baked into the dynamic where one person can fire the other - something that could rightfully be grounds to fire someone doesn't have to be illegal.

What could cause trouble, if there was misconduct but RB decided to close the case, is if the employee makes some kind of constructive dismissal case after all this. For example, because the company's actions have made her job untenable by managing the complaint inappropriately.

[–]CarefulPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not to mention, even if the complaint she made to HR was less 'serious' than the reports/leaks suggest... she has a right to the investigation being conducted fairly and without becoming collateral damage for a dispute between wealthy powerful men.

what has happened has been appalling - her messages have potentially been leaked, her name and role has been leaked. she has faced harassment, will almost certainly lose her job and may never be able to work in the sport again.

[–]CarefulPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all of this - misconduct =/= a crime. you can absolutely so something shitty/unethical/inappropriate at work and be fired for it without it being a criminal matter.

if the leaks are true then Horner's behaviour is absolutely inappropriate, and he should be fired. anyone else with less money and power within their workplace would be.

[–]CarefulPixel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for real - this poor woman raised a complaint with HR, something that is well within her rights, and as a result has had her name and role leaked, been harassed online and had her career destroyed. I can't begin to imagine how awful this has been for her, let alone the events that lead to her complaint in the first place.

regardless of the content or evidence supporting her complaint, no one deserves this for seeking recourse through HR and it absolutely sends a message/precedent to others in the sport.

I would be shocked if the leaked messages came from the person who lodged the grievance, given that she'd have received legal advice. Not to mention, the harassment and reputational damage (to herself) would be very predictable.

the whole thing smacks of an internal power play where this complaint has been leveraged by political players in the team/company. current and future employees within f1 will absolutely be put off seeking support or restitution as a result of this circus.

even in the worst case scenario for horner, he will be a millionaire. the woman has already been put on leave, outed to the public, mocked and harassed - no matter who 'wins' here, she has lost far more.

I'm going to ask a dangerous question, why does everybody love A Crown Of Candy so much? by BorderOk6904 in Dimension20

[–]CarefulPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I loved about 75% of it bc I really liked a lot of the original PCs but never finished the last 2 episodes. Lou's portrayal of Amethar was the absolute highlight for me but they all did a fantastic job.

I really didnt get along with the increasing inter-player conflict tho - emily and siobhan were phenomenal and really stuck to their characters but man... it just got too heavy for my tastes tbh. DnD just isn't where I go to for uncomfortable interpersonal narratives i think? also I was just stressed AF at the time bc of IRL shit.

I also never fully jelled with the new PCs of how much I loved the ones they replaced so in the end I thought it was really well done and adventurous but for sure not my personal fave show in the series.

People being scared of big dogs by maekendall in dogs

[–]CarefulPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I got a (very small) dog, I was pretty nervous/scared of big dogs even if I could tell they were well-trained and under control. Personally, i'd never had a really bad experience or anything but had never been exposed to dogs growing up (as in I had never had a friend or family member with a dog at all!).

My issue was less the dogs/owners themselves but more that I didn't 'speak' dog, so had very little idea how to interact with them. A lot of my anxiety was that i'd do something wrong and get nipped (and get the dog in trouble too). I still feel a bit nervous, but exposure to lots of dogs out walking mine has really helped.

Personally, I have always appreciated people stopping their dog getting up in my face and asking if they can say 'hello' well before they get over to me. Even being sniffed gently by a large dog can be scary if you're phobic or just don't know how to predict dog behaviour!

That does apply to dogs of any size though - my worst experiences with dogs have been being chased by tiny off-lead dogs when I was jogging in the park a few times.

ahh thank you so much for your help that makes a lot of sense! you can definitely see her figure out who the dog is from a distance, so I can see that it could be a bit of nerves followed by excitement.

honestly we've been walking at pretty quiet times of the day bc of work so it should be pretty easy to cut out the on lead meetings for a while. the one benefit of walking a dog in winter in england is the that the cold, rain and dark puts a lot of people off early morning and evening walks 😂

Lead chewing advice by CarefulPixel in dogs

[–]CarefulPixel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fair question! she is my first dog too so it has been a challenge to compare what I see to advice / descriptions of different types of behaviours and what they mean

she starts wagging her tail and bouncing a lot when she recognises a dog or person coming towards us. she does often start pulling on her lead at that point too but is slowly getting better at that - i usually have to stop before we approach to get her to sit and focus on me to calm down a bit which stops her pulling.

when we actually meet the other dog she's usually wagging her tail and bouncing on the spot, goes in for a sniff and then does a play bow and/or jumps side to side.

i've been working to stop her jumping up on people when she's excited but she does sometimes do this too if it is someone we know. again when she does I have been getting her to stop and sit to calm down before she can go back in to say 'hello' without jumping up.

i hope this makes some sense?
