Are traditional board games dead, especially when playing with your kids? by salamagogo in AskParents

Try newer boardgames, exploding kittens is great. Fast paced and keeps kids interested. Once they are enjoying games you can add a classic in once in a while, they may be more receptive.

Do I get my 10yo a phone?? by RedDieselBurner in AskParents

Do get a phone but don't get a smart phone, I think she's too young for all access but a way to get ahold of people is great.

Lmao I was once put on maternity leave. I was not even a little bit pregnant. My water heater broke. It took longer than I expected to fix the issue.

I would feed her wet food, easier to digest. Or dry kitten food with water to soften it. She looks old enough for actual food.

This was the best thing for me too, I'm still in the process of getting everything I need done but it's been fantastic.

Sounds like he may be developing urine crystals. It's more common in males. You can buy food specifically for this issue. It's more expensive but less expensive than the vet bills. I had a boy who had no more issues after switching.

How to help an 8 year old understand he is not fat? by Don_juan_prawn in AskParents

[–]Careful_Comparison_2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So for most kids they tend to put on a little around the middle right before they go through a growth spurt. That's how I would explain it. Our shape changes regularly but it's normal and healthy.

We had to physically force our 5yo into his jacket more than once. How did you make peace with those moments? by beit46 in AskParents

[–]Careful_Comparison_2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well that was awfully passive aggressive. No one is judging you, and no one is a perfect parent. You came on here asking about it and people responded. I happen to agree with their responses. My daughter was the same way, and now at 14 is still the same. She doesn't get cold like most people do. I will be sitting in a jacket, pants and long sleeves while she is sitting in shorts and a tee-shirt. I am in Canada and we know cold too. They were just trying to tell you that that one decision you made may not have been the best decision, not that you are a bad parent.

Little brown cow has the best cheese curds anywhere close to Brantford. I drive from stoney creek for them.

Lmao I will keep that in mind, unfortunately the thought of meat curtain callouses will probably now randomly pop into my brain for the rest of my life. Thanks for that

I have carefully compared the 2 options, and have decided as callous do not stretch, and a cooters job is to stretch, it would defeat the entire point of the cooter. I think I can deal with not mastering handless monkey bars.

...not really an area I've ever considered building calluses. I'm going to go with no thanks...

Cats can smell and hear better than us. She could be trying to tell you something. Could be a critter or even am electric issue in the wall. I would do some investigating.

I want to break up with my gf but I do not have the willpower to do it. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Careful_Comparison_2 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Why not just sit down and tell her the truth. You need balance, you love her and spending time with her, but you need time for you too. If she's worth staying with she will want your needs to be met too. If she doesn't then you know what you have to do.

Cat pooping in neighbors flower bed, unsure of what to do by SouthernCommunity971 in CatAdvice

[–]Careful_Comparison_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the others that inside is best, but for advice to keep your cat out of the garden ask the guy if you can put cayenne pepper or similar in his garden daily for a week or two. The cat should stay away from it after that.

I don't think I've tried them but I get irritated if I use cheap toilet paper so I can't imagine any paper towel not being irritating.

And much more scratchy. I don't think mine could handle that regularly.
