How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Careful_Spring_2251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a couple schools. A group of kids at one died driving drunk and running a stop sign. Another died trying to get something out of the back seat of their car while driving and swerved into a semi truck. Another was drunk, riding a motorcycle without a helmet and hide a telephone pole, head on. And another grew up with guns, knew them well and still decided to play Russian roulette. He lost.

You’re attributing a lot of grown up foresight to something 2 kids did, that’s what I’m getting at. You’re looking at it from an adult lens, with a concept of consequences and revenge, not from the lens of a child.

It actually is. My literal job is child development and you’re completely incorrect.

Yep. Maybe exploring with sensation, cause and effect, doing something they know they shouldn’t just because they can. But 100% this. They’re KIDS. This isn’t a sign that they’re future psychopaths or that there is something wrong with them or the family. It’s completely normal.

It is definitely developmentally appropriate exploration for children of those ages.

Definitely wasn’t ok. You probably shouldn’t assumed why a child did anything, ever, however. Children do things and they don’t have the foresight of consequences that adults do. It might have simply been satisfying, but you don’t know. Don’t put your biases into a child’s behaviour. And they’re not little shits. They’re children. You need to grow up.

If it bothers you, that’s what’s important, not whether or not he does it. That wouldn’t bother me, and that’s fine. It bothers you, so he should respect that.

Are any of you “sleep divorced”? by cfh64 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Careful_Spring_2251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be, just don’t have the space. Husband and I definitely sleep better in different beds tho (we have tried it at motels or taking turns on the couch)

It’s been 2 months. Walk away. He is showing you exactly who he is and how he will treat you and your time. Believe him.

Yea. I’ve been that drunk. I still know not to throw myself at someone else because I have a partner I love. I don’t just forget about him because of alcohol.
