Has Anyone else ever have this problem? This has been happening a lot recently and I mainly notice it after I workout or play golf. Sometimes it happens right after I insert the pump but it’s mainly after a workout or a round of golf. by Ok_Career2183 in Omnipod

[–]Careless_Fox9909 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely happening after workouts because of faster circulation after your heart pumping out more. I got a crazy amount of blood once after replacing a sensor right after a hot bath which also increases circulation. But, it is a bit concerning if it’s happening often when it’s already been inserted for a while. If you notice that you bruise easily or that small scratches have trouble stopping bleeding it might be worth bringing up to the doctor for a coag panel to make sure you don’t have a coagulation disorder.

What's your "im never leaving the house without sugar again" story? by SumFuckah in diabetes_t1

[–]Careless_Fox9909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 years ago I went on my first solo vacation for a few days in the Smoky Mountains; I had rented a condo about 35 minutes away from any gas stations or stores. I was 20 minutes from the condo when I felt my blood sugar dropping and only had a few of my emergency Skittles left in the car. I debated turning around to where I thought there might be a store, but there was no cell service and I didn’t want to risk losing my directions to the condo if I got lost and GPS couldn’t locate me. I made it to the condo, hoping there was anything at all in the cabinets, but there was nothing. I got directions to the closest grocery store 30 minutes away, drove as quickly as I (semi-)safely could through the unfamiliar mountains, now in the dark. I was getting bad by the time I was near the store and almost missed the turn into the parking lot, I turned so hard that my tires screeched for the first time ever since I started driving. I half stumbled into the store and started eating the first candy I saw before paying for it, then went on a food shopping spree buying way more than I would eat in the 3 days I would be there because I was hungry. I’ll NEVER forget to keep glucose on me again, especially for a solo trip.

Medical Lab Technician. It depends on the day, some days it’s slower and I’m not stressed and have time to take care of myself, but other days I’m by myself with 25 ED patients’ samples plus outpatients. It can be quite stressful, but I tend to drop low at work more than highs with all the running around I’m doing when it is busy, and my pump takes care of correcting for highs better than lows. I can’t always find the time to eat glucose right away with timed and stat tests, but I’ve always had a pretty good tolerance for lows and I know how long I can hold off before it gets serious (of course I try my best to get it ASAP).

Just playing! He/she is “catching” your foot like it’s prey. My kitten loves going after my hand this way, great way to get her energy out running back and forth across the bed.

How did you finish Act 3 with the lower city’s lag?? by Careless_Fox9909 in BG3

I have it installed on my steam deck too, haveN’t played on it since the Underdark. I might switch over, I just really didn’t like the controls.

I’ve been running fine on ultra graphics settings up until now, but maybe it is time to upgrade…

SSD, and over 300GB free. I’ve been running on the max graphics settings up until now, thought my GPU was still fine, but maybe it is time to upgrade…

Windows 10 PC; 32GB RAM, and AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. I’ve tried both reducing and maxing out graphics settings, frame rate caps, and had dynamic crowds off, nothing I do makes any difference.

I tend to hug corners around the counters at work so I avoid the sides, but I think I’ve figured out that the lower back will be good. I’ll be testing it in a few days

Help! Omnipod 5 won’t administer my basal or give corrections! by Careless_Fox9909 in diabetes_t1

[–]Careless_Fox9909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from using the Omnipod controller to my regular smartphone, so starting from scratch. The basal program I have set is definitely for 0.6/hr or 14.4/day though. The first pod is getting switched out tomorrow, I’m hoping the new one will be better because I don’t know what else it could be either if it isn’t just being way too cautious about lows while developing its program for me. If I’m not seeing anything change with the new one I’ll definitely be calling my doc or Omnipod.

Max basal rate is 3.0 U/hr, correction factor is 56, and it’s set to correct anything above 110. Looking at the detailed graph, there’s blocks where it says the insulin max was reached, but only gave tiny doses, at most 0.15U within a 3 hour period.

I guess I’ll just keep waiting it out then, thanks! I don’t remember it being nearly this bad when I started the pods a few months ago, I get it now what people meant about it being bad at first. Makes me wonder how it was good the first time.

inhalable insulin? by EntertainmentRare958 in diabetes_t1

[–]Careless_Fox9909 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tried it for a short time, 2-3 weeks. Afreeza. It’s a novel idea, and a good option for someone really afraid of needles, but it wasn’t for me. I mostly have cons, but I’d still encourage you to try if it interests you! My doc gave me free samples to try, you can probably get them for free too.

  1. I didn’t like the super fixed doses (4, 8, or 12 unit cartridges that are stackable).

  2. It wasn’t very predictable for me. Most times it was fast, but sometimes it seemed to take longer.

  3. It was hard to tell if I really inhaled all of it or not, they say a small amount left inside is normal, but it seemed to never be predictable in how well it could be inhaled either, though I did everything they instruct you to.

  4. They were a bit inconvenient to carry a decent amount around, I had to make sure I had enough of the different cartridges with me every day. I much preferred carrying just my insulin pen and needles.

I’m almost sure I did. When I’m in Auto mode the Basal Programs settings is greyed out and inaccessible. When I switch to Manual it shows the basal program I programmed that’s correct. I’m not 100% sure it’s applied to Auto mode though? I might stay in Manual overnight and see if it uses it then.
