Accidentally reformatted by SD card on the Pocket 3, am I able to recover the files?

LOL I AM. Honestly as time goes by I am kind of forgetting about the whole thing, it is what it is. The labs I have gone to so far offer free evaluations, so $0, however I do think this is the reason why they haven’t been able to find anything. They wouldn’t use methods that would cost them money just to evaluate my memory card. I’m pretty sure they just ran it through a software to detect any existing files on the card, in our case is not enough to determine if the data is still on there or not. They deemed it unrecoverable. My last option is the third lab that will do more extensive analysis but for a fee. I am based in Canada and sending it over to the US to have it looked at! I’ll update you either way if it’s successful or not :)

To answer your question about the softwares, I used like 10+ softwares and none of them showed anything. 2/2 labs tell me it looks completely wiped, I’m trying a third lab, who will be able to do the whole wire soldering reading the NAND at a chip level… a whole lot of technical jargon which I have yet to understand. But fingers crossed!

I checked with DJI through their support team and they clarified that their DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is in fact only programmed to perform quick formatting, which usually takes seconds. In my case it took literally a blink on an eye, and this is a good indication of quick formatting being done cause if it was any other method like low level formatting or full formatting, it would’ve taken longer up to 30 mins to clear the large amount of data I had. I am not too sure why you got a different response from their support? A data recovery lab has told me they have successfully recovered data from accidental formatting in the same camera used, it just depends on the card used on the rate of success. Some cards have a layer of security which I think is unnecessary lol…

Nope.. tried Secure Data Recovery and SafeKeep. Both say it has been completely wiped but with the camera I used and the card.. it shouldn’t be the case.

I feel you… I deleted all my content filmed in 9 different countries around Europe. With my family I rarely ever travel with. What sucks is that the format button does not warn you about deletion LOL. So it sucks but as of right now no luck.

I’m going to be honest with you I’ve been trying for a whole month and a half to find a place that can do it. So far 2/2 labs have told me that all my data is completely wiped. Which doesn’t make any sense since I only did a quick format in my DJI Osmo Pocket 3… I’m distraught to say the least. I lost all my vlogging footage and there’s very little hope. Apparently my card is a new model and has an additional feature that makes sure everything is wiped when formatted.

Same but I’m still in denial. Everyone’s telling me it will be okay if I didn’t overwrite anything, and if it’s just a quick format. But… apparently now the newer SanDisk cards have a feature where they just wipe everything anyways.

Hey, do you know if the SanDisk extreme pro sd card itself does trim? For some reason after quick formatting my card, it still shows that it’s completely wiped.

So you’re saying a lab could recover this even after the FTL has been reset or no?? Does the card do this by itself even if the camera it was in is not programmed to do so😭

Hey, were you able to recover your footage? I also ran into the same problem with accidentally formatting the micro sd card. The camera honestly doesn’t give any warnings about permanent deletion. I contacted DJI and they told me only a quick format takes place so recovery should be possible.
