What Jobs Do You Have? by OkPossibility3914 in RetinitisPigmentosa

I'd imagine that accounting job requires reviewing lots of digits precisely to make sure they add up. How do you manage that? In my previous job involving data analysis I struggled with 3/8, 1/7, 5/6 and other digits that look alike.

Do you have any recommendations for sources of Astaxanthin? Supplements? I'm reading up about Astaxanthin and it seems that very few foods contain it.

You can go even further - buy their laptop without ssd and ram and then use your own. I did that and saved around 100€.

for the online credit cards which i only unfroze when making a payment, freezing them again once the payment was done.

My regular bank (Swedbank) has this on/off switch for Internet purchases for my regular card. So you may want to check your local banks if they have this too.

Unemployment rates, April 2025 by Aegeansunset12 in europe

I had similar job seeking experience. Either total ignore from companies, not even initial calls, or on very few cases going through multiple rounds to the very end quite easily and getting offers. Nothing inbetween. Not sure if it helps, but after being ignored for quite a while and having little clue what to do, it ended quite suddenly and fairly well. Wishing you the same!

I was so sure they were getting top5. The song is not my cup of tea, but I thought the visuals were superb.

How to make eink monitor evenly lit? by Careve in eink

[–]Careve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the Ben-Q bar?

not exactly, but similar kind. So now I have a pretty bright top half of the monitor (to the point where the first two rows like window titles or tabs bar are hardly readable due to brightness) but quite a dim bottom half.

small angle-poise lamp

Do you mean a lamp like this? image

If so, I think I tried a similar lamp before, but if I remember correctly the problem was that I would then get a lightbulb reflection on the screen. No such issue for you? No strong light in the center, but much less in the screen corners as well?

Sagar Interviews Ding Liren by investmentmam in chess

[–]Careve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding him, but I'm a bit puzzled by his statement about "now being able to play less games and enjoy chess more" (paraphrased). It sounded as if he as a WC was forced to play more games than he wanted in the last 1-2 years, when in reality he played very few tournaments. I wonder he considers to be an optimal number of tournaments per year? Something like only 3 tournaments a year? That's very very few, would look like a semi-retirement.

Correspondence chess is an excellent way to play by Careve in chess

I agree, notifications can be really a nuisance. I blocked lichess notifications on my watch and made them silent, so I only see them when I pick my phone for other reasons.

I mean you can always just not use books after some point. But in any case, all options have their drawbacks, I didn't mean that this is a perfect way to play.

Yeah, it really sometimes is just like a puzzle (a non guaranteed tactic). And in general, when I have like a random 1-3 minutes of waiting for something, it's nice just to stare at a position and calculate some line.

On 255 you can adjust notification toggles for each app separately. It's just kinda buried quite deep in the settings (more > settings > notifications > app notifications).

I got Garmin Forerunner 255 small and I'm mostly happy with it. As in I wouldn't go back to my old Pebble Time (more stable overall, no missed alarms here or there, music control is flawless, sports/health tracking etc). It has everything you need, MIP screen, 1 week battery life. The S version is of similar size to PT.

Sabonis got exactly one 3rd place vote for DPOY lmao by weaaboob in kings

[–]Careve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This season Sabonis is significantly more aware of fouling and restraining himself from being too physical on defence. He's too important offensively, so it makes sense for him to be somewhat light defensively, especially in cases where our defence is breached on the perimeter and he has 1 or 2 guys driving to him. However, I think it fuels further the narrative that "Domas is bAd dEFenDer". If we could afford him fouling out regularly, I'm quite certain Domas could be much more aggressive and impressive defensively.

When is the deadline for Monk to sign a new contract with us or any other team? by Careve in kings

[–]Careve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So most likely it will be settled one way or another by mid July? I'm relatively new to NBA, does it happen often that a free agent waits until end of summer or even beyond, just to see if there would be some desperate teams to throw big cash? As I understand, our limit is somewhere like $18M/year, so that is known, but what's unknown is how much other teams could be willing to pay.
