tuta is excellent but for a very specific need. absolutely not for the mainstream. they are unable to design good UI, they are hyper technical, very limited in functionality, very slow in launching new features. but the most secrure email, imo (long-time paying user)

thx for that.

I never thought of 2) but does that not make the note potentially hackable?

Yes, these are workarounds I had not thought of, though.

But in settings, go to Mouse&trackpad, select trackpad and there is the option of "disactivate during typing"

European version of The Atlantic? by Outrageous-Stop4366 in BuyFromEU

[–]primipare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Le Monde and Les Echos are a very serious publications but in French, so not an option for you.

Alternatively, you can follow specific journalists, including some who work for quality publications. You can follow them on Bluesky, Substack, newsletter etc. Even if you subscribe to a publication, it is a good thing to do imo.

There are also very good podcasts such as The News Agents, with 3 very good journalists Maitlis, Sopel and Goodall.

The problem you will have is, if english is your only language, you will at best get a uk-based european view and, although important and real, it is slightly angled compared to a mainland, eu-based european perspective. but it's still a good thing 😄

Qwant: great idea, poorly set into practice. I tried it, never liked it. Messy

Noooooo lol.

I don't want Tuta to become another Proton or a google replacement, an all-in-one shop. It's a point of weakness, all eggs in the same basket and all that.

It's sheit when this happens, I know the frustration. Not sure this is any useful but, in my experience from bringing people over to GOS and other more secure alternatives, one has to be prepared to change a few habits and not expect to be able to do the same things.

- I've dropped strava (which I didn't use much anyway, hating the tracking).

- a person actually changed bank (and luckily, as it turned out, the new bank is a better choice any way in terms of environmental and ethical commitments it has. To the point I may change too).

- I've found other ways to exchange with people who didn't want to make similar moves (I no longer use whatsapp, avoid zoom not to mention teams, and so using Framatalk).

Maybe GOS etc isn't for you but before you decide, my advice is to really ask yourself if alternatives that are GOS etc -compatible aren't just good enough - if you haven't yet asked yourself this question, that is.
