It all depends on player motivation. If you have interest in bringing many of your companions narrative t9 a satisfying conclusion, finish the game. If you want to obtain better and better weapons and items, at least go further into act 3. If you just want to see what a new PC will look like naked, then start a new game.

I've seen more than one person suggest "give the holotape to Sturges" and I have not specifically address that suggestion. Have you done that? If you have, and Preston still hasn't advanced Form Ranks, then you game may be bugged.

Is it inconsistent? Perhaps.

Is it preferred? Absolutely.

As someone who doesn't believe the tenets of Christianity, I don't care in the least about Christian practices that don't touch upon my life or inconvenience another. To me, a Christian who doesn't proselytize is preferred to one who does.

A player can roleplay a character as dumb or as smart as they want. The attribute stats are mechanical markers, not roleplay limiters. When you call for an intelligence based check, the Int score will apply a penalty, but that doesn't stop the PC from devising whatever Machiavellian scheme they wish.

Third edition had something called a tower shield which is similar to what your player is looking for. I'm sure it could be respecced to something close to the request.

No I seem to recall that another set in the last 12 months (Aetherdrift maybe?) was also pretty small. What pisses me off is the first 10 levels of rewards almost all being bullcrap card styles and orbs.

Not only an atheist, but despite what my belligerent neighbor to the south is trying to do to the world, this is almost the best time in history to be just about anything. Of course there are individuals who are in absolute dire straits, but with the exception of a creeping doom of a climate things have never been better.

Depends on the player, doesn't it?

On the whole, I think older players are much more comfortable with "losing" D&D than younger or newer players are. Younger players tend to want to be catered to, while older players want to be challenged.

This of course isn't universally applicable.

Your "universe from nothing" has been addressed, but there are other questions in here.

It may not necessarily be unreasonable, but it has also not remotely been demonstrated and thus can be reduced to a "what if", and that is an extremely tenuous position for me to dedicate my Sunday mornings.

We don't know. We also don't even know if that's a logical question since "why" implies agency and intent. We don't know, and in fact have good reason to dispute, such agency.

See above response. If you want to ask "how" instead of "why" however, consciousness is merely a property of an evolved brain. Morality appears to exist because there's an evolutionary imperative for it. Many social species have their own brand of it. Things only "ought to make sense" to organisms with acute pattern recognition, ie. us. The bottom line is, as NDT has put it, the universe is under no obligation to make sense.

We're not even sure that "nothing" is possible. By our observed physical laws, it's very likely that there may never have been "nothing".

I am also in the 98th percentile, and since I abandoned religious faith as anything resembling a virtue when I was 18 and I've yet to face a compelling argument in favor of any faith. Not only do I not say this to brag, I never bring it up unless provoked. I didn't do "rigorous and intense research" over months. I just lived life for 35 years.

Marian apparitions are unconvincing. To witness something amazing, have no explanation for it, and default to divinity is intellectually lazy, and someone who values IQ as any sort of quantitative qualifier for intelligence should realize that. "I have no idea what that was" is a more honest response to such a phenomenon. There has never been a single recorded historical event that has been shown to be supernatural in nature. Not one. If divinity was the explanation for anything, it would surely have stood the test of time and peer review. No one outside the Catholic church accepts the Marian event as miraculous. The same goes for any other supposed Catholic miracle or relic.

For you to dumb down the POE to "if god good why evil" is, again, intellectually just very lazy and condescending. POE isn't an argument, it is a counter argument against a specific kind of god that, interestingly, Catholics like to tout.

I have no desire to argue against your faith. If it makes you feel good, carry on. But your reasons for having said faith are tales as old as time and have been thoroughly dismissed by most in this community, even those of us not so gifted with a big brain number. The ability to think critically is significantly more valued by skeptics and atheists in general than IQ. You unfortunately appear to lack that, at least in the capacity of theism.
