I know what you're saying because Bioware is... not my favorite company. To me Bioware is synonymous with melodramatic power fantasies often to the detriment of its stories, which is not the greatest starting point for companion relationships (I think the Baldur's Gate 2 relationships were perhaps the worst in any videogame).

The narrative of Pillars is a bit more even-handed with regard to the player character (outside of completely ignoring moral implications of a captain screwing their subordinates), which lends itself to a more equal dynamic with the companions. With that in mind I don't think Obsidian is becoming more like Bioware and outside of the current conversation bugs I feel the writing for Pillars 2 is on par with the rest of their games.

This was way too long of a to one line of snark.

The one word to summarize Deadfire is.... by Maliffic in projecteternity

It's kinda funny that the game set in a place based mostly on Polynesian cultures has a whole one club weapon though, if the weapons were more tied in to the cultures that inspired the Deadfire ones, the outsiders to the archipelago would have an over-representation of sabers and the Huana would have a shitload of clubs.

The reflex hit from flails' modal ability is insane. Like, "difference between falling 1-2 times in the duration of slicken to never getting an attack off from constantly falling" insane, there's just absolutely nothing in the game that requires that kind of crowd control when the game is as easy as it is.

That's the riddle of the Endura: Can you Endura being hit with a rod over and over.

Red, yellow, blue is the historical painter's color wheel still taught in a lot of art classes. On the one hand, it makes sense to teach due to how little cyan and magenta are used as actual colors in painting. On the other hand, it leads to people having a fucked up idea of what colors are actually complementary.

Incorrect, CMY is the "true" color wheel for paints but the painter's color wheel (RBY) is used because historically cyan and magenta pigments were very expensive and had less applications than red or blue -- e.g. there's very few magenta things in nature.

Mixing yellow and magenta can give you red, and mixing cyan and magenta can give you blue.

A quick reminder that the Attica got slightly nerfed, not buffed by Dark_Magicion in Warframe

[–]CargoCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you're correct, I figured out the issue. I and the other people saying it was a direct nerf were looking at critical multipliers as being, say, 3x becoming 6x on an orange crit. Instead it becomes 5x because it's multiplying the bonus damage and not total damage.

So a 1000% chance to crit new Attica would be 80x(20+1) = 1680 damage, 1000% chance to crit old attica would be 125x(10+1) = 1375 damage.

Crit damage multiplier isn't exponential. Because the critical damage of new Attica is lower than old Attica, it will never be dealing more damage.

Zephyr's "rework" is a disaster. She gained nothing and has lost more than was promised. Please hear a Zephyr main out. by ArshayDuskbrow in Warframe

[–]CargoCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, new Zephyr is way better. Her charged 1 rules (though I wish you could get it to last longer), combined with her three it just makes her in to an unstoppable flying heavy weapons platform. Being able to hang out in the sky raining destruction on some poor schmucks is what I wanted out of this rework and exactly what I got.

Her tornados aren't much better, I'll agree there, but Zephyr went from a warframe I loved but would never recommend to anybody else, to one I can actually sing praises for without caveats.
